[Day 329] In Bloom Event/Dance Mingle
[DAYTIME: Walking in a floral wonderland. Not to be confused with an actual wonderland. Completely different event. You could be anywhere and everywhere today and not escape the petals.

DANCE: The sector 2 garden is a little extra pleasant and inviting this evening. Gentle breeze, beautiful flowers, delicious hor d'oeuvres, sparkling punch, and music. And dry. Did we mention it's dry? Not a single flood as far as the eye can see. So, find someone and get out there and dance.]

(OOC: Event INFO. Feel free to have your mingle set up cover both aspects of the day.)

[ Congratulations, young lady, you got one rather complicated-feeling young man to laugh. It was just in the eyes, when she got to the purple hair, but by the name mention, he was gasping, trying to not bark with it. That was so rich, in an absolutely awesome and adorable way. A couple of moments to catch his breath, and he answered, his eyes still bright with mirth. ]

Oh, man. Yep, I know him. We all come from the same place, and I can promise you he is much more mellow and laid back from how he used to be. He just gets very serious about what he is doing.

It might make it easier to get in his good graces if you apply the principle 'anything worth doing is worth doing well to any interactions with him.

[ That was not cheating. It might make both her and Tieria's life easier, though. ]

I can't imagine him being worse. I definitely get the serious vibe from him.

[She considered his advice.]

Well, I never do anything at half effort, so I think I'll be okay with that.

It's... Well, there's serious vibe, and then there's hardly knowing how to be anything else. At one point, there used to be serious, stern, judgemental, obnoxious, and absolutely focused. Now there's a lot greater variety.

[ Neil's smile eased a bit. ]
And that's good. He'll appreciate that, and you'll see how it means even more, because you're certain that any bit of his approval, you've earned.

[She laughed a little.]

Okay. I'll take your word for it on that.

I've always been called something of an overachiever, so maybe that's why he's less serious and grumpy with me?

[ Neil laughed a bit, too. He loved Tieria a lot, but he had started out pretty... ah, stiff. It wasn't mocking if it was truth - and definitely in the past, to boot. ]

That'd help, yeah. Are you at least also having fun, with Economics?

Yeah. I am. [She chuckled.] I mean, it's not a super thrilling topic. But that's okay. Because I like learning and stuff.

Faaair enough!

Ah. [ He turned his hand palm up in her direction. ] Would you rather I ask what you'd like to get a chance to learn at school, or a dance?

You'd dance with me?

[She looked a little surprised. She'd always been wary because she had a huge crush on Lyle, but he was not just her teacher, he was older, and probably out of her range. He looked a bit younger, but she assumed Neil wasn't that young.]

[ Neil's eyebrow arched at her question, but his grin widened - and not in the dangerous way. There were very many ways in which people could dance without it hinting or leading to something else. And it was an easy thing, for Neil to do, friendly. ]

It's a dance, and, sure, I would - unless you'd feel comfortable.

Oh, no, it would be fun! Not uncomfortable at all. I always, well... I mean, I know older guys can sometimes feel weird about dancing with younger girls.

[She might have just indirectly called Neil old.......]

[ He remembered being her age. 25 had totally been old. ]

Some older guys. [ Those who knew they couldn't trust themselves, as far as he could tell. ] For me, it'd be a pleasure.

[ Neil was not exactly expecting a reaction like that. It was a relief, another reminder that he was alive...

At least he was alive for now.

But, no, it was going to be just a dance. An easy, pleasant dance. Though he might spin her once or twice. Because, why not?

[ And dance they did, complete with a couple of stories from his own high school years - before things went wrong - to make her laugh, too. Because that, he could do. ]

Thank you for the dance. And you're a wonderful partner.

You're absolutely welcome, Kitty.

[ Grinning, so much. Then he shrugged. ]

Well then, it's been a pleasure. But I don't want to monopolize your time tonight.

[She smiled.]

That's okay, but I don't want to monopolize yours, either.

I guess I'll see you around.
