[Day 329] In Bloom Event/Dance Mingle
[DAYTIME: Walking in a floral wonderland. Not to be confused with an actual wonderland. Completely different event. You could be anywhere and everywhere today and not escape the petals.

DANCE: The sector 2 garden is a little extra pleasant and inviting this evening. Gentle breeze, beautiful flowers, delicious hor d'oeuvres, sparkling punch, and music. And dry. Did we mention it's dry? Not a single flood as far as the eye can see. So, find someone and get out there and dance.]

(OOC: Event INFO. Feel free to have your mingle set up cover both aspects of the day.)

[She tilted her head a little, looking like she was considering it.]

Yeah, sure. It's not like you're looking to get a raise, right?

You could double the nothing I make now, but I'd hate for you to take home less of the nothing.

Well, yeah. Either that, or I'd have to raise the nothing that everyone pays for their food and drink. That could cause an uproar among the customers.

It's a slippery slope. I probably don't want to know what would happen if I asked you to dance. [Which might be kind of asking her to dance.]

You could always try and find out.

[Which was kind of her saying yes.]

Piper, would you like to dance? [Suddenly just a touch nervous. How be social?]

Sure.

[She was a little nervous, too. She had so many reasons to say now, but none of them were actually here... in the dome... and there was no saying they'd be legit reasons again any time soon. No... she couldn't think like that.

And it was too heavy a thought train for the moment, anyway. So, she smiled.]

[Besides, a dance is just a dance.

Of course, he does like her. Respects her. But she's a witch and after being with a werewolf, demon, and a vampire and seeing how all of those turned out, he knows it's not a good idea. Okay, he probably knew that before trying it out, but it's hard when there are only so many people you can be honest with about who and what you are as a hunter. You end up connecting with the people you're supposed to be fighting.

But he doesn't fight Piper. They're on the same team. They've even hosted a class together and now they work together. Okay, he works for her.

It's just about when he's ready to lead her to the dance floor that a slow song starts up. It's probably just as well. Swaying is a lot easier than really dancing. But he does give her something of a sheepish smile before stepping in to gently place his hands on her waist to lead her.]

There are a lot of flowers today. [Best conversationalist award goes to...]

[She gave him a similar smile back, and let him lead her out to the floor, reaching up to put her arms around his neck.

Wow... he really was tall. Good thing she wore heels tonight...

At his comment, she ducked her head down and laughed a little.]

Yeah. Definitely a lot. [She nodded slowly.] It might be a bit overkill, but the Wardens rarely do things half-way. At least it's pretty.

They know how to follow a theme. I wonder if they were doing an exhibit on flooding the day of the flood. [Not that anyone was checking it out.]

It's possible.

But I don't think an exhibit was on top of anyone's minds that day.

Is it on the top of anyone's mind any day? [No offense to any museum curators in the audience.]

[She laughed and shook her head.]

Probably not.

Though, depending on who you ask, the sex toy exhibit was probably at least interesting.

[She rolled her eyes. She missed Leo, but geeze. It hadn't been that long, yet. She'd gone longer when she was pregnant.]

[He really did not expect her to bring that up.] I...guess it would have been. [You're going to make a hunter blush over here.] But now we have a whole store for that all the time.

[She laughed a little at his reaction.]

That's true.

So, if we're talking exhibits and things. Which was your favorite?

They didn't make a point of announcing it, but I stopped by one day and they had on ghosts.

I guess I miss it.

Miss ghost hunting?

[She shrugged a little bit.]

I guess I do, too. It was kind of... starting to be normal. [Which, for someone who's spent almost the entire past four and a half years of being a witch trying to go back to 'normal', was a little odd to admit.]

I guess so. I never thought I would consider it normal, but I think it's been getting that way now.

How old were you when it happened? I mean when your powers unlocked and you found out what you are?

It was only like four years ago.

[Weird had become normal so fast, but it kind of had to. They'd been thrown into it all so quickly that they didn't really have time to slowly adjust and learn.]

We had to get used to it fast.

Do you ever wish you could go back?

To being normal? To not having to worry about being killed by demons or chased down because we're the "Charmed Ones"? Back to thinking my husband was just our handyman and not our angel-like magical protector in disguise? To thinking that my mom just drowned in a horrible accident at a summer camp and wasn't killed by a water demon? Back to having my sister Prue alive? Yeah. Sometimes.

[That came out really harsh and heavy. Way more than she had intended it to. Her sarcasm in pretending it wasn't as heavy as it really was sounded awfully bitter, too. She shook her head.]

Sorry. I just... it's really confusing and really hard. I do want to go back. All the time. But, at the same time, I don't. There have been times that, for whatever reason, I've found myself without my powers, and it's just as scary now not to have them as it was to suddenly have them back then.

And, yes, my husband is a magical being, too, and I have to accept the fact that he has powers, and my son now has powers, too, and I have to be open to that. And we have to make sure that Wyatt learns to use his powers the right way as he grows up. And going back to "normal" and pretending we don't have them won't really change anything in the end.

[Especially because, as she really thought about it, her boyfriend at the time her powers were unsealed turned out to be a warlock who had been searching for them and hoping to kill them before they're powers awakened and got too strong. So, they'd been in danger anyway, even not knowing everything about themselves.]

You don't have to apologize. I get it. I really get it. The wanting to go back and the knowing you never can. Not really.

Once you know about these things even if you could walk away, you'd still know it's out there and if you couldn't remember you'd just be vulnerable. [Just thinking like a hunter, not reading anyone's brackets even if the thoughts do line up!]

[She nodded.]

Yeah. We didn't realize how vulnerable we were before. And then it turned out that there had been people waiting for us. Like they knew anyway. If we'd never gotten out powers in the first place, we might have just been killed off no matter what.

So, in a way, it's better. We at least have a way to defend ourselves now.
