[Day 329] In Bloom Event/Dance Mingle
[DAYTIME: Walking in a floral wonderland. Not to be confused with an actual wonderland. Completely different event. You could be anywhere and everywhere today and not escape the petals.

DANCE: The sector 2 garden is a little extra pleasant and inviting this evening. Gentle breeze, beautiful flowers, delicious hor d'oeuvres, sparkling punch, and music. And dry. Did we mention it's dry? Not a single flood as far as the eye can see. So, find someone and get out there and dance.]

(OOC: Event INFO. Feel free to have your mingle set up cover both aspects of the day.)

Well it looks nice if that's any help. How have you been?

Um, thanks. Thank you. I've been ... I'm fine. It's been a rough couple of days. I'm sure that's true for everyone.

It's nice of them to throw a party like this after all of it strange, but nice. [His eyes follow Jack and whoever he's charmed into dancing with him at the moment and he smiles in faith amusement.] Sometimes I think my social life is better here than it was at home.

Nice. Sure. I'd put my bet on some kind of manipulation. [Why flood and even kill some them one day, and then throw them a party?]

My social life definitely is.[He can pick his friends out of the crowd. He has friends.]

You're not much of an optimist, are you? [A smile to offset the comment.]

It must have been hard for you yesterday, if you can sense the death.

[He snorts. Nope. Not an optimist at all.]

Yeah. It sucked.

[He's not really sure what to say. It was terrible. He's already sobbed all over Chuck and clung to Yuuri, and other people keep picking at his walls before he can put them back up.]

I'm okay, though.

[He really wasn't planning on taking the conversation in such a dark forest ion but he does have one thing to add. He's not sure if it's reassuring or not.] I've always hated watching Jack die. I can't imagine feeling it, too. In a way it makes you quite impressive, you know.

He should really try to do less of that. [He scuffs his shoe and crosses his arms and looks off another direction. Impressive?] I don't ... It's just something I can do.

[Ianto would not approve of whatever autocorrect did in that last comment, and he approves of Jack dying even less.] Sorry, I know it's a bit much for a second conversation, isn't it? Shall we change the topic to flowers or dancing?

It's alright. I appreciate the concern. [He lifts a shoulder, half shrug, and relaxes now that they're moving away from the first topic.] Not a big fan of either. But sure.

Ah, swords? Card games. Mythology. [At least, it's something he knows.] Can you be a fan of travel? I like travel.

I can see why Jack likes you. He loves travel as well. I've never done as much of it as I would like. Where have you been?

Everywhere, I guess. Benefits of shadowtravel. I can go wherever I want. But usually Europe. London, Rome, Paris. All over America.

I lived in London for a bit after university. I was working for Torchwood there. It is quite a city, isn't it? Although I'm still a bit more partial to Cardiff.

It's nice. Good place to get lost in. I don't know if I ever wound up in Cardiff. [He didn't bother with learning the names of most of the places he popped into. A lot of them were accidental trips.] What do you like to do?

Fight aliens and make coffee, mostly.

Coffee's good. Can't make it, but... [Shrug.] I fight monsters, not aliens.

Mythological? Um, hellhounds, harpies, empousai, stymphalian birds, Titans, giants... Monsters.

We had fairies once, but I think that's the closest we've gotten to mythological creatures. Most of ours are more flying saucers, ray guns, that sort of thing.

Flying saucers are cool. Did you ever get to go to space? [He does light a little at that. If you mentioned pirates, he would have fallen in love with you, but space ships are a second best thing. He's met an awful lot of people familiar with space.]

[The closest thing he has to a space pirate is Jack's obnoxious ex who he dislikes far too much to bring up.] Sort of? There was this thing recently where the Earth was moved to a different part of space, but I suppose that doesn't really count. Mostly I try to keep things running normally while Jack makes a mess of the time traveling business. I helped catch a pteranodon once, which I consider pretty impressive of myself.

Jack told me about that. And also ... a cyber, um ... girlfriend, thing? [He's not remembering correctly, because it was also jumbled up with embarrassing kissing talk that he would like to scrub from his brain.]

[Jack are you serious. He spots him on the dance floor long enough to throw a look that says a conversation about appropriate subject matter for strange teenagers is happening later.] I didn't realize he was telling people about that particular aspect of my personal life. Lisa, I mean. The dinosaur is fair game.
