[You won't hear them coming. You won't see their snare. The mistletoe bots are out and they're hunting you, two by two. You can run and you can hide, but eventually you will be caught, and then there's nothing left to do but kiss your way out!

[It should scare her and on some deeper level it does. Some place where it reminds her of his more dangerous side in the things he's told her and the way he treated her for a time in their shared dream. But Euphie has a pretty orange pearl enhancing her already notable impulse control. That combined with the power of being a teenager with overactive hormones does much to shout over the cautionary voice at least for the moment.

She kisses him back with more intensity and brings their bodies closer together.]

Everything is sensation and heat and want, and there's no conscious intention to hurt when Nathan yanks on Euphie's hair, holding her head in place so he can take complete control of the kiss. His other hand clamps down on her shoulder and he bites at her lower lip, actions rough and greedy.

There's nothing gentle or restrained about this.]

[Her resistance registers distantly, but it only makes him more determined to keep her in place. There's nothing holding back his darker impulses; he slips farther away from himself and his only thoughts are to control and hurt.

A sharp, sudden jolt of pain shocks him out of those thoughts.

He's abruptly aware of her hand pushing him away, his fingers gripping her far too tightly. He lets go and backpedals so quickly that it's remarkable that he doesn't trip himself up.

The barrier is gone--the bot must have felt that its mission was accomplished--and there's celebratory confetti on the ground.]

[He almost goes back. He wants to, and he thinks that she wants him to. She wants to be around him. He hurt her (not badly, but the degree doesn't matter) and she hadn't wanted him to leave.

No one else is ever going to feel that way. No one else could be that forgiving.

If there weren't distractions in the form of mistletoe bots wandering around, he might have talked himself into running back to her.]
