The gigantic attempt is gigantically successful. Spike may be vampirically stronger but Jack is bigger and flings him off with relative ease. Not his first time being flung tho and he finds his footing quick enough, rolling back up to stand.

"Bloody hell, I missed this." A difficult thing to admit, but fuck it. He's lost too much by now to worry about keeping up the cool image.

Jack springs back up to his feet again too with automatic speed, and then pauses at Spike's words, regarding him for a moment, working out his response. But it's not hard to work out. Whatever's happened between them, this is one hell of a lot better than the recent tension and cautious pussyfooting around each other.

So he grins. "Me too," he says warmly, and goes for Spike again, aiming to back him into the wall this time and, rather more deliberately, snog him again, just because.

He goes with the movement easily, both the shove and the snog — to his own great surprise. This isn't about sexual excitement, although it is exciting. No, this is still about the physical battle, of meeting Jack head on with whatever weapon he chooses, of gnashing teeth and crashing lips and snarls in between. He curls his fingers firmly in Jack's hair, challenging him to do his goddamn worst.

Spike going easily actually throws him for a moment, because he really wasn't expecting that. But he'll be damned if he doesn't make the most of it! He laughs exultantly and lunges into the kiss, meeting Spike all the way, his own hands threading into stiff, bleached hair as he uses his body to press Spike back into the wall.

It's not really about sex for him either, any more. Yes, he's hard, but he can get hard from a good fight just as well as he can from more traditional stimuli, and this? This is definitely a good fight. He presses right in, demanding, claiming, taking.

This is one of those times he'll think back on later and just shake his head in disbelief, claim temporary insanity or that it never even happened. Truth is he's going out of his mind, no longer knows what he's supposed to do with himself, what he's supposed to be. Back home, he could turn his attention to fight for something good. Here, there's nothing.

So he exists, broods in secret, shags and drinks and smokes the time away and on occasion, he stumbles on something like this. Something that makes him feel, if not like a man than at least a little closer to one.

It's a different kind of battle for sure and not one Spike feels like he can afford to lose. Growling against Jack's mouth he braces himself against the wall, pushes back to try and make enough room to turn this back to punches and blows. He can feel an obsession grow and that's never a good thing. Perhaps it's already taken root, long before today.

There is a bit of an obsession there, yes, and it's not entirely one-sided, not by any means. Jack's always had a slightly obsessive personality too (over a century waiting for the Doctor, anyone?) and Spike has sparked something in him right since the start. It's not just the similarities to John Hart; there are similarities to himself too. Kindred spirits, if they could just get themselves both on the same side.

This may be about as close as they're going to get. But it feels good to be with someone who understands a man's more primal needs.

He gets pushed out of the kiss eventually, and he dances back, grinning widely, hands spread invitingly, just as happy to return to Spike's kind of fight.

There's no way that could backfire into a mutual obsession hellhole, could it? Of course not. How could it possibly?

Either way this is something that he's been missing in a deep, essential way. Back home there was the Slayer (even if he needed to goad Buffy on more than he should've) but here there's been... no one. Sam for a while, but that pup was far too fragile. Buffy occasionally, until she disappeared and that was half a lifetime ago, it feels. The loneliness and lack of stimulation has grown into a constant ache, picking away at what little will he has to do much of anything.

It's an ache that's lessening with every second, stirring up embers and breathing new life in the brawler, the troublemaker, the guy who was the happiest in burning temples and rainsoaked New York streets. He grins and swings, wide enough to be avoided because he knows that Jack isn't trying to flee. It's a game, not a battle for life or death.

Jack's always been happiest out in the thick of things too, battling against Daleks or Slitheen or Cybermen, feeling the blood flow thick and fast in his veins, fizzing with excitement that - yeah - has been sorely lacking here. Perhaps he's been getting just a little too domestic with Ianto. Perhaps he needs a little more danger in his life.

Except that this time he misjudges where Spike's aiming and dodges the wrong way, so that Spike gets him in the solar plexus and even though it's not at full strength, it puts him out of the fight. He staggers backwards, doubling over, pain shooting through him, gasping for breath and really rather disappointed. He hadn't wanted this to end yet.

[OOC: Thought I'd try and leave them wanting more... :-)]

It's such a shame really and Spike isn't even pretending to hide the disappointment that washes over him. Maybe he needs to find someone more durable, or just take out the remaining frustrations on a sandbag at the athletic center. There's a lingering ache in him, like being told to turn off the light and go to sleep before he's had a chance to reach his own climax.

Actually, let's not phrase it like that. Gross.

"Done already?" The tone is mildly mocking, but not as goading as it could be. He's not about to ruin what little chance he has of something solid and regular here. No way.

LOL @ Spike's thoughts!

Spike's not the only one who's disappointed, but there's not a lot Jack can do about it, short of killing himself, and this is not sufficient injury to merit that! He nods, managing to flick Spike an apologetic glance. He can't speak; he just doesn't have enough air. His lungs are heaving, desperately trying to pull air into his body. He flaps a regretful hand at Spike.

No point waiting around; this could take a while!

Another of the many perks of being dead. You can't get the air knocked out of you if you don't have any air to begin with. A flaw in the plan but he can't really be picky, not after everything that's happened between now and his arrival.

So he gives a shrug, somewhat disappointed, somewhat reluctant as he turns to leave, casually sauntering and lighting a cigarette as he goes.

Hah! Yeah, right... :-D

He hears Spike leave, but by the time he can straighten up again, finally managing to breathe, Spike's just a (rather fine) figure in the distance. He watches him till he's out of sight, with a faint sense of regret that he doesn't really want to analyse because he suspects if he does things might start getting complicated again. Much more fun if he just lets things happen.

Still. This is much better than how things have been between them, and that's a good feeling to take away from this as he finally shakes out the last bit of tension from the fight and goes on his way again, looking for his next conquest.
