Day 305 : MISTLETOE BOT MINGLE
[You won't hear them coming. You won't see their snare. The mistletoe bots are out and they're hunting you, two by two. You can run and you can hide, but eventually you will be caught, and then there's nothing left to do but kiss your way out!

Chapstick stations will be available.]

And then you came here and were confronted with another reality. I imagine that it would be overwhelming to find so many new worlds when you believed yours to be the only one.

[Not that he would know. Even if his practical experience with alternate universes only goes back a few years, he has known, theoretically, that they existed for as long as he can remember.

(There might be a bot sneaking up on them.)]

Yeah. That. Confronted by too many alternate realities at once. I always wanted them to be real. But they seem so much better in books than they are in real life and...

I must seem really naive.

[That sneaky bot? It takes this moment to pounce and lock them both in a forcefield yelling "Kiss!"]

There is nothing wrong with being naive. It only means that there are many difficult things that you haven't had to experience.

[He glances up at the bot with a sigh and a smile.]

Ah. How uncomfortable do you find kissing relative strangers?

[Well, that's certainly different than what Irene tells her. She's about to say so when the bot ensnares them. Sarah crinkles up her nose.]

They've trapped me with a lot of people. Still doesn't mean I like it.

[Chekov has had a great deal of experience with being the most naive person in a group. It's something they can talk about when they aren't being forced to kiss by a robot.]

Very few people enjoy doing these things under duress, I find. Would you like me to initiate the kiss?

Um... sure. [It's a very weird way to think about this. Initiating the kiss. She's not sure what she should be doing.]

[She doesn't need to do anything! With permission to continue, Chekov plants a chaste kiss on Sarah's lips. The bot showers them with congratulatory confetti before zipping off to torment someone else.]

Was that acceptable?

[The confetti is a welcome sight and Sarah can't help but smile.]

Oh yes. That was a lot easier than some of the others. Some of the bots tell you to kiss better if they don't like it.

Robots have no business critiquing kisses. [He reaches out to pick a piece of confetti out of Sarah's hair.] You might consider going inside. The robots don't have thumbs to open doors with; I would think that indoors would be safe from them.

No. It's really really stupid. [She blushes and steps back as he picks the confetti out of her hair.]

You're right. Inside sounds safe. But not the library. Last time I got ambushed there too. Good luck getting through the dome today.

Maybe somewhere smaller, with fewer ways for the robots to get in. Thank you, and good luck to you, also.

[Chekov fails to notice any blushing as he gives her a final smile and turns to go.]
