Day 305 : MISTLETOE BOT MINGLE
[You won't hear them coming. You won't see their snare. The mistletoe bots are out and they're hunting you, two by two. You can run and you can hide, but eventually you will be caught, and then there's nothing left to do but kiss your way out!

Chapstick stations will be available.]

"Gives me more time to play with my dog." Her dog who she happened to take home before running errands. It was just easier that way.

"And read. They do supply us with plenty of books." Martha steps forward as well, a grin on her face.

"This dog-getting seems to be a popular pastime around here," he observes lightly, giving the bot a Look as his butt gets another push. "Oi, getting impatient over there, are we?" he demands of it, but it just goes on repeating its demand.

He shrugs and turns back to Martha, spreading his hands to show how very much this isn't his fault. (Yeah, right!)

"I figured it'd be nice to have some protection. And a warning system. He's almost as permanent a fixture at the clinic as I am."

Martha gives the bot a pointed look as well as she's shoved forward. Does it think they're not going to kiss. Jack's about the one person she can count on a decent kiss from. And it's been so long since she's had a decent kiss.

"It clearly doesn't know our history," she remarks before reaching up a hand to the back of Jack's neck to push a slightly more aggressive than necessary kiss against his lips.

If he knew she wanted kisses, he'd have offered before! Kisses are one thing he can share around without offending the sensibilities of the wardens, after all! He starts to grin at Martha's comment, but before his mouth can stretch all the way she's dived in already and he actually 'oomph's a bit, because he wasn't quite expecting that. It's only temporary, though, and after a second he's kissing back generously, his arms coming around her warmly, thoroughly enjoying himself.

Martha wasn't one to just go around kissing Jack under normal circumstances. He was monogamous now, and she respected Ianto too much to do that to him. But it had been a while since she'd had anything, and unlike most people here, Jack wasn't shy about kissing. She was going to take advantage of it.

The bot was long gone, and they were both covered in confetti when she finally pulled away, glowing.

To Jack, monogamy doesn't really include kisses, any more than it includes flirting, and he still hasn't really got it into his head that other people don't think that way.

Which means he's very happy to keep on kissing her just as long as she likes, and that he smiles widely at how happy she looks when she pulls away.

"We should do this more often!" he grins. "That's a good look on you!"

And in that, Jack was different that Martha, and she suspected Ianto. She's still smiling though.

"Much as I would love to, you're in a serious relationship Jack. I don't want to get in the way of that. Besides. Kissing is only fun for so long. Then one inevitably wants more."

Well, he couldn't really argue with that (the second part; he could argue all day long about the first). He inclined his head in acknowledgement with a rueful smile.

"Better keep it just for special occasions then," he conceded, with a twinkle in his eye that warned her to watch out on whatever he considered the next 'special occasion'.

"Something tells me you're going to start making up special occasions," she replies with a smirk. Knowing him, he'd find actual mistletoe and just bring it out in her presence.

"Did you happen to go through those doors a few weeks ago?" she asks, flipping topics. It had been rather weird, and Martha never followed up with Jack or Ianto on it.

He grins. "I doubt I need to, really, they come up with so many occasions here anyway!"

He glances at her at her question, realising that yes, they haven't talked about this yet. "No, I didn't," he says, linking his arm through hers to lead her over to a nearby bench. Might as well talk in comfort, after all! "Ianto did, though, and I heard all about it from several other people too. Did you see it all too?"

"Oh yes," she replies, following him to the bench. "Ianto was one of the first ones I met up with. And I talked with... something. A giant creature that refused to give me a straight answer."

"A creature veiled in black?" he asks curiously, feeling a little left out once again that he didn't get to experience it all for himself, that he only gets to hear about it second-hand. "Ianto said he talked to that one too."

"Veiled in black?" she asks with a shake of her head. "No, mine looked like a giant bug of some sort. Huge. Spent a lot of time playing word games before finally escorting me back to where we woke up."

"A bug? Really?" He blinks for a moment, trying to picture it. "What kind of a bug? Not like anything you'd seen before, with the Doctor?"

"So, not humanoid at all? And yet it could talk?" His eyes narrow, as he speculates. "Or did it talk only in your mind?"

He grins, briefly. "Sorry for the third degree. It's just, if these are their real forms, then we've got two different species working together. That's really not that common."

"It was..." Martha paused, thinking back. "You know, I don't remember. I definitely heard a voice - Kind of like a talking cicada. But I can't remember how I heard it."

"Huh. That doesn't ring any bells." He frowns, disappointed, wishing once again that he'd seen one of those damn doors to walk through.

"And it didn't say anything at all useful?" he asks, clutching at straws, trying to drag something from all this. "Nothing at all that might have been even a tiny hint of a clue to a way out?"

"Nothing about getting out. The best I got was she... it felt like a woman to me... she shut me down when I started asking questions about the prison being real or not. Projections... etc."

She. That's interesting. He files that away for later consideration.

He nods. "The one Ianto spoke to more or less confirmed it's not real, though apparently it still managed not to actually give a completely straight answer. But I'm fairly sure this really is a virtual reality, albeit an extremely sophisticated one. More sophisticated than any I've ever encountered before. Never experienced one where you really couldn't tell it wasn't real, where there weren't at least some tiny, tell-tale signs."

"It was nice to be devoid of all scarring," she said quietly. "And I suppose it's good to know that these aren't... real. But I have even less experience with this sort of thing than you do."

"Yeah, I'll bet," he agrees softly. "Nothing 'physical' that happens here will be there on our real bodies."

He glances at her. "Lack of experience, maybe, but I think you're taking it all pretty well. Perhaps because you've been here long enough to get used to so many odd things happening? I told Gwen about the virtual aspect the other day and she rather freaked out on me, I'm afraid."

He lets out a soft huff of a laugh. "That's true, I guess! Not that Gwen's a complete virgin to the abnormal either, mind, not with Torchwood, but I guess it's not the same as actually travelling to other places, seeing the strangeness for yourself."

He gives her a thoughtful look. "I wonder if you'd talk to her, actually? I don't like how freaked out she is about this place; it might do her good to hear about things from your point of view. I'm afraid mine is just too different!"

Martha nods. "I knew aliens existed before I met the Doctor. But nothing really prepared me for anything like this until my hospital was actually on the moon and everyone was panicking."

She considers his question a moment. "Yes. Yes, I'd be happy to talk to her. But... when is she from. Has she met me yet in her time?"
