[You won't hear them coming. You won't see their snare. The mistletoe bots are out and they're hunting you, two by two. You can run and you can hide, but eventually you will be caught, and then there's nothing left to do but kiss your way out!]

(OOC: Mingle until your lips are chapped! Information on mistletoe bots event.)

[Most days he doesn't want to be alive but he hasn't killed himself yet so he supposes that's something. That's one deep dark secret he keeps all to himself although it's been on his mind a lot lately thanks to that fear creature a few days ago.] What, speaking from experience or something?

You got it. [ Weak little smile. ] I was killed on a caribbean cruise and dumped into the ocean. Exciting, huh? Next thing I know, I wake up in a coffin.

Ned brought me back. It's kind of his thing.

When you say brought back I'm assuming you don't mean CPR.

((So this just popped up on my FB newsfeed!))

Nope. Ned has this... gift. No one really knows where it came from, not even him. If he touches a dead thing once, it comes back to life. Touch it again, dead forever. [ So, that's a thing. ]

((ooc: yesss, it's so exciting! ))

Well that sounds weird, complicated and scientifically fascinating. Does this tie in with the detective thing you mentioned before? [And he's betting the no touching rule explains so much about their encounter today.]

((I seriously need to rewatch this show, all this is makings remember how cute it is.))

It does! Emerson and Ned were investigating my murder — usually Ned wakes up murder victims for a short minute to find out who offed them, but he kind of...

Didn't make me dead again. [ It has consequences. The way she doesn't look at him may clue in to as much. ]

(( yes, excellent! More people need to watch it, seriously. ))

So now you can't touch him and you help investigate things, right? I think I'm keeping up.

That's about it, yeah. And he's my boyfriend. I don't know if I told you that.

[ She probably did. It bears repeating, in any case. ]

[She may have mentioned it but he had forgotten until now. Again, explains a lot about the kissing but for once he's smart enough not to blurt that out. It does trigger a hidden little flutter of disappointment, though.] Did you want to come back from being dead?

[ And a similar flutter of guilt in her. She has a boyfriend, one she loves very much but it's a boyfriend that isn't here — may never be here — and kissing was nice. Touching was nice. Kissing him was nice and right now she feels like the actual worst for even entertaining the idea of kissing him again.

Much better to focus on the grim topic of her narrowly escaped demise. ]

I never wanted to be dead in the first place, if that's what you mean. It would've been fine if he'd made me... un-alive again though. I mean, I'm happy that he didn't but... I was ready for it.

[As for Phanan he's gotten so used to being turned down that this is just the latest in a 5 year string of disappointments. If she's got a boyfriend she obviously cares so much about he should just accept that they're going to be nothing more than friends and leave it at that. And hey, he can always use more friends, right? Confusing friends he likes kissing and who have a really cute manner of speaking.]

Just morbid curiosity on my part. I'll effortlessly change the subject, watch. What does that dog eat? Do they have it here?

That really was effortless. [ She gives him a big, warm smile. ] Oh, you know. Dog food. Surprising, isn't it? And yeah, they should have it here... I've seen it in the stores too.

You just... have them, I guess. Hug them, if that's your thing. Take walks, maybe throw a frisbee around. Teach them tricks.

I don't think my spider will be quite so interactive, but I can try getting it to fetch. Tell you what; why don't we meet up in a few days and compare pet training results? [Not a date not a date don't call it a date.] A sort of animal friendship date. [OH GOOD JOB. ]

[ There's certainly a moment of wide-eyed surprise at his choice of words — surprise, not repulsion and certainly not anything that will end in slaps. Actually... it sounds nice. An animal friendship date. Like a play date, right? Nothing romantic. ]

Sure. [ Surprise turns into a smile that keeps widening until it's a miracle she even has any face left that isn't smile. ] I'd like that a lot.

[Phanan is busy scooping up the tarantula tank in one hand and supplies in the other. The spider scuttles back and forth across the bottom of it's enclosure, looking as concerned as a spider can.] Where do you live? I can help carry things if its near Sector 2 where I'm headed.

Right. [He feels like this has the potential to be awkward and he refuses to allow that to happen. Silly is the way to go instead.] Well then we will just have to squeeze as much conversation in as possible between here and the door.

I haven't really seen much of the beach outside of a brief stop on the first day. My squadron had a beach vacation a few weeks ago but I missed it with the whole spleen removal thing.
