Yeah. I figured I'd kill myself so no one else'd get killed later.

[Talking about suicide is easier than talking about thinking about killing people. In fact, Nathan takes this pause to roll up a sleeve, unwind some of the (less-than-white now, thank you, passage of time) gauze, and peel off one of the pads covering the stitched-up vertical cuts. They're four days old, but the skin's red and angry around the stitches. It hasn't, of course, occurred to Nathan to redress the cuts.

He needs more adults.]

See? But Doctor Reid got there and messed it up.

[Wo-oah. The arm that isn't currently being shown off automatically wraps around Euphie in a light hug, as Nathan's arms are better at knowing how to react to things than his brain. He's known this girl for basically a day and a half and he told her that he thinks about killing people. She should not be hugging him.

It's nice, though, and he isn't going to do anything to persuade her to stop. Actually, they need to stay right where they are because Nathan's eyes are tearing up, which is stupid. A girl who's crazy enough to care about psychos should absolutely not make anyone cry.]

I'm kinda glad he did, too. [Or that's what he intends to say, as, in this moment, he means it. What actually comes out of Nathan's mouth is some kind of multi-syllabic croak.]

[He has to wonder what she means by that. Nathan gets that Euphie has had experiences that are at least vaguely similar to his; she'd said that people got hurt, but he hadn't exactly pressed for more details. Did she kill people?

Are you thinking about the mind-control thing that happened to you? The geass? [He has words now, as well as the presence of mind to hug her more securely. That seems like the right thing to do.]
