Ordinarily, yes. There are occasions, however, when even I have to knuckle down and get on with the boring stuff. Such occasions may arise when some asshole vampire is making a nuisance of himself.

[Pursing his lips, and then waving it aside, because Kitty is far nicer to look at and way more entertaining than the book. He turns his body towards her, leaning an elbow on the table.]

[Dealing with Spike for Dummies?]

Spike still being a dick? [She'd like it to only be that and not something more dangerous, but past performance is saying differently now.

She watches his easy movements and as usual feels a bit drawn into them. If she's not careful she might be disappointed if a bot doesn't show up and that is not a thought for a girl with a steady guy to have. Or a friend of Ianto to have for that matter.]

Me? I guess I've been pretty busy with business. The force, picked up an extra class to teach, and I lost a bet so I've got another few days of working at the Devil's Compass.

...And Reid! Reid keeps me busy.

I don’t honestly think he knows how not to be a dick.

[But he really, really doesn’t want to get into the more recent events in the Spike saga with Kitty, not when he knows he ought to tell her but risks Ianto’s safety if he does so.

So it’s probably lucky for them both that there’s a mistletoe bot hovering just around the corner, just waiting for the right moment to strike.

He smiles.] Reid’s a lucky boy! What new class are you teaching? I haven’t made it to any for a while, I’m afraid.

[And there’s the bot, popping out into sight gleefully disseminating its one and only message: “Kiss! Kiss!”.]

[She gives up the topic of Spike pretty easily for now. She smiles softly.] Trust me, I'm the lucky one. [Because of Reid, not the bot! Sheesh.

But her attention does turn to it.]

The rare indoor sighting. [But then she goes back to ignoring it for the moment. They have a little time.] Um, beginning technologies. So, if you need a refresher on how to work a toaster I'm your girl. Kind of set up for people from unindustrialized worlds or times, but actually might be handy from people from the far flung future who don't know how to work the primitive stuff too. Lacus used to teach it.

	Heh, I'm the guy who got stuck back in 1869 and had to live through several decades before the toaster even got invented! [And that's all he has time for, because the forcefield is getting very tight now and he can't put it off any longer. Even so, there's still a second's hesitation just like Kitty's before he cups his hand gently round the back of her head and presses a gentle kiss to her lips.

It's... different from how it was before. He's still open and warm and giving, but there's a lot more genuine friendship and a lot less tease to it.]

[There is relief in the way this kiss plays out for her. She didn't completely trust herself going into it thus the delay, but delays only get you so far in mistletoe bot olympics. Inevitably you've got to kiss and when they do it's connected, but not filled with heat. She pulls back when the confetti drops and straightens back up.]

Another life saved by kissing.

Somehow I think if it could be saved that way you'd be the one to do it.

[She smiles back at him. She's happy with her monogamous ways. She didn't spend much time dating around—almost none. One serious relationship after another. So sometimes a guy like Jack can be exciting, but it's not really for her if she's honest. But he's definitely got a certain something. And she enjoys their conversations and flirtations.]

You know I'm going to call you and discuss boring class stuff with you, TA. We're going to get you so many points.
