Well, he's got some of that wrong. [He didn't beat Cross, literally or figuratively, Road subdued him. Chances would be he'd never have gotten that far if they hadn't gotten so much of an advantage on Cross in the first place, starting with Judgment. But those are irrelevant details and he'd never elaborate on them for obvious reasons of ego, even if it doesn't matter because she wouldn't understand. Chances are she's not going to understand anyway, and he's irked at Sam -- is he really going to have to make sure he minds his own business?]

It was a long standing rivalry, he lived. He also got his revenge with a gunshot to my face, so we ended up rather even.

[ By now she's been kissed enough to lose some of the novelty. Some, but far from all. The fingers in her hair leaves her with pleasurable tingles, lips parting as she pushes into the kiss. He's so sweet and if the conversation with Sam gave her doubts, this kiss right here is negating them. No one can be this sweet and also that brutal, it just doesn't add up.

So maybe she is a little willfully naive at times. ]
