Wonderland Event — Dome-wide mingle
[ There were blankets set out in the lush parks of the prison, and on top a feast was spread out. Fine china and chubby pots of tea, delicate cake trays filled with tarts, biscuits and sandwiches; yes, anything the hungry and weary prisoners could wish for was laid out for their convenience.

The sun was shining brightly and a playful breeze rustles the leaves of the trees. Surely a wonderful day for a tea party! ]

[Trowa just kind of stares at Duo when he does that. He probably should have been alarmed that Duo was talking that quickly, but really he wasn’t. There were far more important (well important to him) things on his mind]

For something that isn’t real, you are rather obsessed about it. “Gotta go here”, “gotta go there”. Then again, how do we really know what is real here? I mean the sky isn’t even real here.

Well, because there's so much to do, of course. There are still hours, and they count the number of days. The time just doesn't coincide with time back home. Like, three days here doesn't necessarily mean that it's been three days back home. Remember? I told you this when you got here. I've been here for like months, but you only arrived a few days ago. There's definitely a weird time thing going on.

[He paused only a moment to take a breath and shift mental gears.]

And of course the sky's not real. Duuuh. We're under a dome. Everyone knows that. Why would someone think it's real?

[You're trying to be logical. He's being philosophical. But then again Duo is running around like he has a massive sugar high and talking a mile a minute]

Yes, I know it's not.

[Did you pay attention Duo? That might be the closest to a "duh" implication in Trowa's tone as you may ever get to hear]

But if we can't trust the time here and we can't trust what we see, what can we trust? Can we even really trust that we are here?

Does it really matter? We still have to hurry. No time to waste tryin' to figure all this out. C'mon. Let's go.

[And he grabbed Trowa's arm to pull him along.]

C'mon. C'mon!

[To the store! To get... things! Important things!]

What's the hurry about? If nothing here is really here, why do we need to hurry? What exactly are we hurrying for?

[But he will follow after him without real complaint]

Do you really think it's not here?

[Duo picked up a rock.]

Feels real enough to me. C'mon. Let's go.

[He tossed it over his shoulder, not looking at where it might end up.]

[There really needed to be someone to go “oh my eye!” when Duo casually tossed the rock behind him. Too bad there wasn’t]

But what if you just think it’s there? What if it really isn’t?

That doesn't change that we're pressed for time to get things done. I have lots to do today. I have a big project for Haruka with her scooter, makin' it faster an' stuff. And there's other things, too. I wanted to check on maybe taking things over for the Post Office.

[Today brought up a new sense of urgency on taking over PM's job. He owed it to her, after all, and there was no time better than the present!]

What purpose is there for taking over the post office?

[He was confused what suddenly brought that on, even in his philosophical state. He’d never seen any indication that Duo had an interest in taking over the post office]

Because it needs people to run it. PM ran it when she was here, but now she's not here, and the bots are running it. She didn't want it bot run, yanno. And I kinda do the whole delivery thing anyway back home, so I might as well do it here, right?

Yeah. So maybe tomorrow I'll ask the AIs about doing that.

[Which he probably wouldn't, but for now he was thinking of doing it.]

I don't really see the purpose of mail here. It's so to begin with.

[And it was fake to begin with, but who was counting]

DON'T TELL THAT TO PM. SHE'LL TOTALLY FREAK OUT!!!

Who is PM?

[He's never heard of this person]

[Duo stared at him for a second and then shook his head.]

Right, right. She was gone before you came here. You wouldn't know her.

She was the postal mistress. [Something struck him as amusing just then.] Wow. I get it. Peregrine Mendicant. Postal mistress. That's funny! PM and PM!

[He laughed for a bit, and then caught himself.]

But, yeah. She never wanted to have the bots run the place, so... yeah. I was thinkin'... yanno. To take it over.

[And Trowa just kind of stares at Duo for his sudden amusement over the letters “P” and “M”. It seemed so random to him. Maybe because he didn’t actually know this person that Duo was talking about. Or maybe it was because his normal sense of humor was off from what normal people considered funny. If it had been more normal, he might have snickered]

Ah… such a strange fascination with the mail.

Yeah. She was kind of obsessed. But she was pretty cool. She was like this giant white bug or something. Hard outer shell.

[He shrugged.]

But, that's not really important. Stuff to do! [And he bounced off a few steps before stopping and turning back.] You comin'?

What? A giant bug? [You don’t want to know what he is picturing in his mind at the moment. But it lends to his idea that things here are just a figment of their imaginations]

I suppose so. [And he will keep following Duo]

[Duo nodded.]

Yeah... Or maybe like a chess piece. There were some others here like her... black ones. It kinda worked as an analogy. I'm not really sure, though. I never asked. She said she was from a place called Prospit.

[And he'd babble away about things as they headed along to the store.]

Chess pieces? How… odd. I suppose that takes being a pawn in this world a bit more literally.

[And Trowa will just keep following him]

I think of anything in particular. Just the time to think.

Right. [Duo sighed. No one understood him today. Everything was soooo urgent!] So, uh, you wanna get together later, then? I can get my stuff done and you can get your thinking time?
