[Zatanna has similar plans, honestly. It's been a while since she's had the chance to work on her tan, and really, with temperatures in the nineties, there's not much else she felt like doing. Too hot.]

[Donning a lovely purple two-piece, she has a matching towel thrown over one shoulder and sunglasses pushed onto her head as she catches sight of her favorite big sister figure.]

[ helen is taking the day to wander around and it's evening by the time she makes her way to the beach. she isn't paying much attention to anyone around, for once, just enjoying the evening sky and the water. it brings back a lot of memories, both good and bad.

eventually, she turns to walk the shoreline and comes across elena. ]

It's been a long time since I experienced temperatures like this, but they pale in comparison to spending five years in Egypt.

[ helen gives a soft snort of laughter and shakes her head with an amused smile. it isn't egotistical that she immediately thinks he was talking about her. they were old friends who knew each other very well. who else would nikola mean but her? ]

I'm hardly immortal. I can die. [ the universe just hasn't seen fit to let her yet. ] I simply have longevity, extended life. Which is why I could spend five years in the Egyptian desert without worrying about wasting my time. Or Nikola's.

Indeed he did. We were searching for King Tut's tomb in our more carefree days. [ sort of. it was after her place in the first world war and she'd needed a distraction from life and james being so shell-shocked. when the opportunity had presented itself, she'd leapt. of course, returning from that venture in 1922 had been met with worse problems, but they'd overcome those as well. ]

Not many people would have enjoyed being stuck with me for five years, but we did quite well with each other.

[Sam is not wearing a bikini. Okay, that's probably not a surprise. He's also not wearing anything resembling beach wear or warm weather wear. It's jeans and a plaid shirt forever and ever. At least he left off the jacket today. He's also not so much a beach guy, but he did stop through just to see if everything was good there since he figured it would be a gathering spot and he was right.

He just didn't think about everyone who might be gathered.] Elena, hi. [This greeting might be getting a little old. Then again, hi has been used for years.]

[ years and years and years. it's really not a particularly worn one, but that doesn't temper the awkward tension that has been simmering between them.

[This is definitely no doppleganger/hunter conversation or high school student/hot old guy conversation. This is the special awkward that comes from the "almost." It's polite and pleasant and splashing around in the shallow end of the pool.]
