Day 221 — Morning mingle : Main shelter
[Wake up and smell the lack of coffee. You're on a bunk bed. Maybe you're a top and maybe you're a bottom. There are five other people in your room. Maybe they're friends or enemies or faces you barely recognize if at all. It doesn't matter much. You can leave this room and you don't need to come back to it.

You should get your rations though. You're probably hungry. You're definitely a little sluggish of body. What happened to that bruise you got sparing yesterday? What happened to your newly dyed hair? Mystery, mystery... Move along. Find the public bathrooms and do your business with a hundred of your closest friends.

Find the kiosk and get your rations. Careful not to let anyone steal them. You won't get more until tomorrow and the bots won't care. They aren't here to hold your hand. If you get sick or hurt and they deem it necessary they will take you to the hospital whether you wish it or not. But why dwell on such things? You're here now and you might as well enjoy it. You even get a free day today.]

[ Dangerous territory indeed. He never thought she'd take it as anything but a joke but now he's not so sure and that throws him off-guard, even more so considering the situation they're in.

They've only been together for a few months and barely that and sure, some marriages happen in an even shorter timespan (he's from Vegas, after all) but it's not something he ever imagined having to deal with. Actually, he never thought the subject would be breached at all in a serious capacity and yet, here they are. Not to mention that she's technically already married although the whole prison thing might overshadow that particular detail. Prison, there's another huge reason why he never thought this was going to even edge on serious territory. Hell, not too long ago he was fairly certain relationships weren't a good idea either... although that is a terrible argument against whatever it is she's implying with that question.

This turned into an awkwardly long imitation of a goldfish. C'mon profiler. Make words. ]

So, uhm. [ Clears his throat. ] What would you call it then?

[Listening to his silence might be the longest, loudest thing she's ever heard. It seems to give her all the time in the world to mentally kick herself for pressing the issue. She didn't want to bring it out of the realm of a joke, but she did, and why? It's not like she's ready for anything.

It hasn't been that long. Of course, everything about her life has moved fast since her parents were murdered. Just one flash of experiences after another until here she is very much in love for the second ~~third?~~ time. She doesn't need a clock or a calendar to tell her when it's time to be ready for something, but she's also not over what happened between her and Piotr—her husband.

She's moved on in a lot of ways from that relationship, but it will always be a big part of her. She still loves him and she's still angry at him. Neither has had time to fade or heal completely, and maybe they never will. She was married—maybe not legally with no one to perform an official ceremony and no government to recognize it—but in her mind and heart he was her husband. It was a big commitment, and she can't be reckless in making it a second time.

And of course there is the disappearing acts this prison pulls. How many times has she watched friends leave her life? It was the same back home through death, but in some ways the vanishing was harder. It felt even more random and she felt more helpless against it. Could she handle it if they took that step and then he was gone? Or if he came back without any of those memories?

Neither of them are ready to ask or answer for dozens of reasons and yet her heart felt like it was on pause waiting for him to reply and relief and disappointment came in equal measure when he did.]

Mm...The Articles of Confections? [See? Just a harmless joke.]

[ That mixture of relief and disappointment seems to be contagious. On one hand he's relieved that she stepped back over the fence and into joke territory, but on the other... for just a brief moment it felt nice to entertain the idea. He's never done that before, never really had a reason to and now that it's rooted chances are he'll entertain it again.

Just not now. That was too sudden, too soon. ]

I like that. It sounds very... serious and legal-like.

[There is so much to think about right now with Squall and lacking powers and watching over the DF in a new situation. But when some of those things clear up, and maybe before, she'll definitely think about this again. Sometimes there will probably be anxiety and sadness and sometimes for no reason at all she's going to smile because she's picturing being his wife.]

Well, sometimes I'm very serious and legal-like. It seemed fitting.
