Day 221 — Morning mingle : Main shelter
[Wake up and smell the lack of coffee. You're on a bunk bed. Maybe you're a top and maybe you're a bottom. There are five other people in your room. Maybe they're friends or enemies or faces you barely recognize if at all. It doesn't matter much. You can leave this room and you don't need to come back to it.

You should get your rations though. You're probably hungry. You're definitely a little sluggish of body. What happened to that bruise you got sparing yesterday? What happened to your newly dyed hair? Mystery, mystery... Move along. Find the public bathrooms and do your business with a hundred of your closest friends.

Find the kiosk and get your rations. Careful not to let anyone steal them. You won't get more until tomorrow and the bots won't care. They aren't here to hold your hand. If you get sick or hurt and they deem it necessary they will take you to the hospital whether you wish it or not. But why dwell on such things? You're here now and you might as well enjoy it. You even get a free day today.]

[He can tell by the sounds in the bag that she took food, not blood, which is somewhat surprising. Maybe she's planning to take some from someone she knows, or maybe she can live off of food, too.

Either way, he's putting up a hand and shaking his head.]

Even if that were true, I'll be fine.

[Men don't need food more than women. That's silly.]

I don't really eat human food all that often, anyway.

[Mostly for appearances, or when blood supply is low (to kind of stave of cravings), but he's definitely not taking anyone's when they're barely being fed already.]

Alcohol does more to help, honestly, but I don't think they're handing any of that out here.

Drinking dulls the cravings, makes them more manageable.

You don't seem to have much trouble keeping control of yourself without it, anyway.

[Stefan has gotten better over the years, but he has a particular weakness to human blood, moreso than most.]

No, not really. It's almost impossible to stomach when you're new, though I know a few that still enjoy it.

Sugar just doesn't have the same appeal. I can remember what it used to taste like, though.

[Well, considering the amount of former humans, it's not all that odd in her world, either. Even if it is sad. The comment on her control earns a smile, though.

She does have control... she'd hurt herself before hurting someone, but it can be painful.]

I just don't want to drink human blood. I've never done it before, and I'd- I'd just prefer not to start. Even if the cravings and scent can make it tempting.

[This isn't something she'd normally be able to talk about. Maybe it's because they're similar, but somehow it's a little easier for her to open up about it to him. Talking about cravings and the scent of blood to any of her human friends would of course only make them uneasy. Even toward Zero, it isn't something she'd like to bring up.]

I didn't think about that in regards to alcohol before, though... I wonder if it's the same at home.

I try not to, either. I spent about 90 years feeding on only animal blood, and staying away from people as much as possible. But it's hard, sometimes.

I don't see why it wouldn't, if you can digest food. If it dulls all the other senses, slows down the mind, it should have the same effect.

[Animal blood. It's strange to think about. Would it help? Somehow the idea doesn't sound all that appealing.]

. . . Not to be intrusive. Maybe it would be a little weird- [Different between brothers vs brother and sister (though her relationship to Kaname had never been the typical brother/sister type bond)]

But why not just drink Damon's blood? If you both care about one another, it would maybe even taste better than human blood, as family, right? [A natural solution to a problem.]

Mm... [It must be a difference] Back home, it's normal for vampires to drink from other vampires. Although it's better shared between lovers or close friends...

It's preferable to hurting someone innocent, and there are laws about attacking humans. [Of course]

Because I'm not the same as most vampires, I can't bite someone who is human without turning them, or causing them injury.

	I've only ever met one vampire who fed off other vampires for sustenance and he was...not well liked. Then again, he wasn't nice about it. [Mikael. The head of the Original Family. 	The majority are born. But there are a select few who have been created. Only Level A vampires, or purebloods, have the ability to turn humans. 	To me, it's hard to imagine differently. [She's glad it's the way things are, though. Even when some might consider her a monster, she still wants to believe that if she was born, then it's not to simply be a creature that destroys or merely takes from others.] Life is not easy, though, for former humans.
