Day 221 — Morning mingle : Main shelter
[Wake up and smell the lack of coffee. You're on a bunk bed. Maybe you're a top and maybe you're a bottom. There are five other people in your room. Maybe they're friends or enemies or faces you barely recognize if at all. It doesn't matter much. You can leave this room and you don't need to come back to it.

You should get your rations though. You're probably hungry. You're definitely a little sluggish of body. What happened to that bruise you got sparing yesterday? What happened to your newly dyed hair? Mystery, mystery... Move along. Find the public bathrooms and do your business with a hundred of your closest friends.

Find the kiosk and get your rations. Careful not to let anyone steal them. You won't get more until tomorrow and the bots won't care. They aren't here to hold your hand. If you get sick or hurt and they deem it necessary they will take you to the hospital whether you wish it or not. But why dwell on such things? You're here now and you might as well enjoy it. You even get a free day today.]

My Borg systems are malfunctioning, and I am unable to access the databanks contained with my cortical array. [ meaning she doesn't have access to the borg's infinite amount of knowledge. the only memories and experiences she has access to right now are her own. ]

[ seven should be able to pull up his schematics, to look at it in her head while examining him to see if she can figure out what's been done to him to make him malfunction like this, but she is unable to do so. it makes her realize with a startling amount of clarity how useless she would be to her crew if she didn't have access to all that borg knowledge. ]

Without access to the information assimilated by the Collective, I am unable to investigate this matter further. [ it makes her fear helpless, and seven does not enjoy helplessness. ]

He does not like this state either - lacking many of the strengths that being an android grants him, things he takes for granted, and having no means by which to determine what has been done to him, by whom, or even how he is malfunctioning. At least his core functions are intact, his memories accessible... ]

It may be possible for me to identify what has been done to your systems - though without access to any of our equipment, it will be difficult to address any issues we may uncover.

[ seven is her vessel's astrometrics officer. she practically lives in that lab, and would install an alcove within its walls if her captain would allow it for more efficient means of access. but what makes her such a brilliant stellar cartographer is all that knowledge the borg have assimilated, giving voyager valuable insight into worlds and cultures they otherwise would have no knowledge of prior to encountering. without that... what would she do? play kadis-kot with naomi wildman all day? learn to cook and assist neelix in the galley? it is an unsettling thought. she does not wish to be this way. ]

We run the risk of potentially damaging one another further in the process. [ she frowns, giving him an apologetic look. her hands tighten on his shoulders as she leans forward, touching her forehead to his. ] Surely we are not meant to remain in this damaged state.

Perhaps it is a temporary measure meant to subdue us in our new location.
