Lechance

Sadie finally had taken a break from all the sewing she'd been doing. She got a wrap and took a seat outside the shop where Mrs. Haggerty could see her and get her attention if something came up.

She had a letter from her sister that she'd already read once but wanted to read again. She paused when someone approached from down the street.

"Good afternoon," she said pleasantly.

"Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!" the town crier shouted in a voice that could be heard throughout the square. "This is a notice of importance for the City of LeChance on this, the thirteenth day of November, in the year of our grace eighteen hundred and seventy-three. Prepared and requested the right and honorable LeRoy LeChance, mayor of the same town, and spoken by your most humble servant Anastacia Mason." She took a deep breath, studied the paper in front of her with a tiny frown before continuing. "The people and person who bravely undertook to aid the members of the town stricken by a fire have to a person decided to stay indefinitely and aid in the rebuilding."
