It was a testament to Kori's grace that she made it out of the boat in one piece. Between the rocking of the boat and having her arms full it was a miracle that Kori didn't fall back into the boat or missed the dock entirely. That in itself was a moment to thankful for, she really didn't want to get anyone killed because she was klutz.
Not that she actually believed Leah would kill anyone.
But what little miracle she'd been granted getting across the river and out of the boat came to a rather quick end about halfway down the dock. She tripped over something that she couldn't see and went down. The bags of knitted stuff going flying as Kori flailed to try and keep her balance. The effort was wasted as she land face first on the pier.
Groaning she picked her head up after a moment. That had to be the most graceful moment of her life. And O'Brien was nearby what else was new; the guy hadn't left her alone since they'd left Madison Square. She rolled over and sat up wincing in pain as she shifted her leg. Kori tilted her head at the rip in her jeans and the red that was seeping into the fabric. Her eyes roaming the pier for what caused the injury.
And there it was down by her knee a rusted pipe that looked like it had been dropped by accident and forgotten. One of the passengers that came out helped her up to her feet and someone else was picking up the bags that had gone sprawling everywhere. Amazingly she hadn't lost any to the water.
She could feel the warmth of blood running down her thigh and she made a face. This was disgusting and her pants were going to be stained forever.
"Come on girlie let's get you to see someone that can patch you up." The man that helped her up said.
The two of them made it the rest of the way up the pier and into the safe house, O'Brien trailing behind and she was deposited into a small room to wait. She was able to convince O'Brien to stay outside by pointing out her pants were probably going to have to come off in order for the cut to get cleaned up.
So she waited in the old office chair her hand pressed as tight as possible against her thigh. She didn't think it was too bad despite that it bleed freely and probably more than it should be after being open for so long, but her first aid knowledge was pretty limited to basic cuts and scrapes so what did she know.
Finally after what felt like forever Kori heard the door open and then snap closed. She sighed and swiveled the chair to get a good look at the guy. Well this was going to be awkward because she hadn't expected the person to patch her up to be so young. Not that young people couldn't have medical training it just wasn't something she had expected.
"Hi. I'm the stupid girl that doesn't know how to watch where she's going." She joked putting on a smile. God this was embarrassing. Hopefully Rae wasn't too worried about how she was doing. Or panicking that Leah was going to row out to the island and stab her because Kori didn't know how to keep from tripping over a pipe.
