She shook her head at Elliot. No one else had fallen. "My sister said that if anything happened to me she'd come out here and maim everyone that she'd charged with keeping me safe." So Leah had actually said she'd kill them. But well she really didn't want her sister to sound particularly crazy. She knew Leah had a good heart somewhere under all the cynicism and that was what kept her from using an exact quote. Sometimes Kori did have a heart when it came to Leah it was just usually best displayed where Leah could never see it.
She nodded in agreement on pretty much all counts for what Elliot said a smile forming when he mentioned he was a friend of Rae's as well. Rae usually picked the right people to be friends with and that helped set her at ease more than anything else he'd said or done. Which helped a lot because that first prick of the needle hurt like a bitch and she couldn't really stop herself from pulling away. She'd never really been a fan of pain. "Jesus Christ." She hissed through gritted teeth. Now she knew why back in the civil war anything that happened in the medical tent usually required holding the patient down.
Through all the pain Kori hadn't really expected anyone to come walking into the room. Least of all Rae. So when she heard Rae's voice she turned staring in shock at her friend. The crushed look on the other girls face made Kori's heart ache. It wasn't what it looked like. But she could just imagine what it looked like and that look told her everything she needed to know. This was the Elliot Rae had been talking about. This was the guy Rae had been thinking about dancing for on Christmas. And Kori couldn't help but feel like she'd just ruined everything.
"Rae," She started, "It isn't what you-" But her friend was gone and the words dried up pretty quickly. Coming out to the island herself had been such a bad idea.
