Hearing Kori talk about her sister's vindictive promise to anyone who let her sister get hurt, Elliot grinned and then laughed. It was only slightly on par to what he might have said of anyone he asked to look after his brother. Only less violent. And, more than likely, he'd be the sole protector anyway. "Ah, well, then for both our sakes, let's hope I do an adequate job patching you up. Wouldn't want an angry sister coming over here and maiming me. That wouldn't be good for anyone, least of all me."
Given that the first stitch was already in place, Elliot couldn't allow Kori to recoil from the pain. Not unless she wanted to make the wound worse, which, he was guessing, she didn't. Elliot applied some pressure to her knee to keep her leg in place while he worked. "One down, just a few more to go," he said encouragingly.
In the medical field, a steady hand and nerves of steal were a must, at least if you intended on being even close to successful at your job. Elliot was no exception. In every safehouse infirmary he'd worked in, he grown accustomed to any number of different people barging in while he was attempting to patch up a wound or examine a patient. Which meant that when the door opened, part of his awareness focused on the source of the interruption, while the majority of it remained on the bloody gash he was steadily closing up.
However, the moment the voice registered in his mind, Elliot paused in his task and glanced over his shoulder. A wave of confusing guilt washed over him. There was... disappointment on Rae's face. But why? Eyebrows raised, he glanced at Kori when the girl began to speak, and back to Rae as she sputtered out an unnecessary apology and then rushed out.
For whatever reason, he felt like he should go after her, explain what had happened. But it should've been obvious what had happened, right? He was helping out her friend.
"Almost done," he sighed, turning back to his work. A few more stitches and the wound was closed. Elliot wiped away the excess blood, then stepped away from Kori, offering her a smile. "You're good to go."
