Imagine, if you will, a magical village that’s unplottable, inescapable, and inexplicable. No one knows how they found themselves in this village, but what they soon find out is that almost all aspects of life in this village are controlled by Rita Skeeter. She knows your deepest, darkest secret -- the one you would never reveal to a single soul -- and if you refuse to play by her rules, she has promised to expose you. What’s more? Your secret will be revealed and you will never be able to return to the time and place you left. There will be only one escape: death.

Though your leisure time will be your own, you must live and work where she tells you. She will assign you an occupation, a place to live, and grant you a reasonable allowance to begin your new life in Lockewood Village.

The additional twist? Individuals from all times may be transported to Lockewood Village at any point in their life. Their presence will not affect the outcomes of the main timeline. Tom Riddle’s presence will not remove Lord Voldemort or prevent the First or Second Wars. New relationships may be flourish, but they will not prevent anyone from being married or born. Lockewood Village exists on a whole separate plane of reality.

Premise

The 1996-1997 school year ended with the death of Albus Dumbledore, but while he and Harry were uncovering the truth behind Lord Voldemort's immortality Lord Voldemort was himself in the final stages of a plan that would bring him that much closer to everlasting life.... To take over the Ministry of Magic. Break into the Department of Mysteries. And solve the mystery of the Veil -- the doorway between life and death.

On 1 August 1997, a battle raged inside the Ministry as Death Eaters fought Aurors and Ministry officials for the control of the Ministry for Magic -- and the control of Wizarding England. The Order of the Phoenix found out hours too late, and by that time, Voldemort had won.

The next day, the Daily Prophet announced that Lord Voldemort had declared himself Minister of Magic. The reaction was immediate, as countless witches and wizards fled the country. They, as the remaining magical population would soon discover, were the lucky ones. While St. Mungo's remains neutral and Gringotts Bank has taken a violently oppositional stance, the remaining wizarding institutions, including Hogwarts, have no choice but to go along with the Dark Lord's demands.

While the Death Eaters have been running the country, slowly but surely destroying all that was good about wizarding society, Voldemort has been examining the veil. It didn't take long before he found a way out.

Thus he entered through the veil to explore the realm of the dead. But what he didn't count on was that as he entered, someone was released. Looking exactly as they did the day they died, that soul, who was in stasis at the happiest time of their life, has no knowledge of current affairs or their life after that happiest moment. But they're back, and the only way out for them is to die again. But they don't remember death - they only remember life.

Appearing in a discrete alleyway in the heart of Diagon Alley, they are lost, confused, and have no idea what to do. But soon after the first of the undead was discovered, those loyal to the Order have been carefully watching, making sure those who return are properly cared for and given the latest in wizarding communication: the journals. If they have family still alive, they are put in touch with them, and they do their best to readjust to life in 1997.

But the question remains: what is Voldemort looking for beyond the veil? What is it that he thinks holds the key to immortality? Only time will tell, and if Voldemort discovers it before Harry Potter destroys the remaining Horcruxes, then the wizarding world will forever be subject to the Dark Lord's rule.

Following the Final Battle of the Second War, Death Eaters fled from the castle. While some were caught quickly, enough of them remained at large to finish the work of their fallen Lord. Harry Potter was found and killed along with Ginny Weasley. The summer of 1998 was a blood bath of revenge and vengeance. Despite the Order's success at the Final Battle, the Death Eaters tore through the final bits of resistance and pushed the remaining Rebels into hiding.

Their take over of the Ministry was quick. Rodolphus Lestrange was named Minister of Magic and put several reforms into action. The biggest reform was the creation of The City. After its completion, witches and wizards of inferior birth were placed within its walls.

Free from the influences of such people, Pureblood society once again began to thrive. Lavish parties and events were held by the wealthiest families. Jobs once stolen by Mudblood filth were once again available to the Pureblood students and soon their influence was spreading throughout Magical England.

Victory, of course, has not been easy to maintain. The Death Eaters have kept a tight reign on some of the more rebellious youth, placing them within the city and carefully monitoring their actions. There is no such thing as privacy for Residents of The City. Members of free society, however, have spent the last two years in a comfortable and easy lifestyle.

The year is now 2001 and the Death Eaters have been in control for two years. Have the rebels finally rebuilt themselves enough to be a serious threat to the Pureblood way of life or will the magical world continue to exist under the control of Death Eaters and Minister Lestrange?

Everyone knows what happened the night Harry Potter and five other students fled Hogwarts to do battle at the Ministry of Magic. That was the night Sirius Black died, the night the Prophecy was destroyed, and the night the Ministry finally admitted that Voldemort had returned.

But something else happened that night, something the Ministry never released. Many of the rooms in the Department of Mysteries were damaged, but the Time Turner room was completely destroyed.

1 July 1996. Exactly one week after that fateful night at the Ministry, a stranger arrives in the Department of Mysteries claiming to be from 24 February 1980. Only after Albus Dumbledore interviews this stranger do they realise that this was the night the Prophecy was made.

With each day that passes, more people arrive, some who have been dead for the past sixteen years. No one can explain it, and no one can stop it. All they can do is wait and see who is next to arrive while they prepare to fight the war of their lives.
