Who: Matthew and Sookie
Where: Their Home
When: Night after this exchange
The last six months of Matthew's life had been something of a whirlwind. He was still working on finding some kind of purpose for himself, job wise, but, on a different planet in apparently a different universe, he'd found something that he never really expected to ever have the pleasure of finding: love. He had, at best, thought that spending Valentine's Day with Sookie would be a way to make a friend that was feeling a little lonely like he was. He had been a bit wrapped up in his own mind then, letting his inner demons get the worst of him. Sookie was like a bright ray of sunshine in the rain, easing the darkness in his mind.
He could hear his sister in his mind, saying that he was jumping the gun by even thinking this, but he'd went out one day while Sookie was at work and purchased a ring. It wasn't anything huge or fancy, but considering his lady was more beautiful than anything in the store, he figured that it would be just fine. Now he kept it in his pocket, waiting for the right moment to propose. He knew that she could say no, that it was too soon, but she had also been the one to ask him to move in quite soon into their relationship, so he was feeling at least fairly confident in his decision.
In an effort to be a good boyfriend and housemate, while everyone was working, Matthew had taken to doing things like cooking dinner for everyone. He had nothing on Sookie's southern cooking skills, or Lafayette's, but he could put together a decent dinner so that no one working at Hooligan's had to worry about feeding themselves that night. Sookie was due home a few hours before everyone else, and Matthew wasn't entirely sure where Adilyn was at the moment. Maybe rehearsing with her new band? There would be plenty of leftovers when everyone else made it home. Tonight was spaghetti with meatballs, with garlic bread in the oven, and everything was just about done when he heard Sookie come in the door. "In the kitchen, Sook!" he called out to her as he heard the door shut.
