"Thank you," she said as he poured the water. "The only one who ever cooked for me was Gran," she said as a bittersweet smile moved across her lips. "She would have loved you, Matthew. You would have loved her too."
"I don't know who I need to thank for your staying a bachelor, but I sure am thankful," she said before taking a bite of pasta. "Do you have any other surprises you've hidden from me, like do you know magic or something?" she teased him, reaching across the table to hold his hand for a minute.
"You know it doesn't get much better than this," sighing happily she squeezed his hand lovingly. "Being with the one you love and a great meal, this is one of those perfect moments. I love you Matthew." Which wasn't something she said all the time. They knew they loved each other from the first time they'd been together.
Being with Matthew was like magic. Nothing could go badly if he were around. She knew she was being over dramatic in her thoughts, but it was true. She adored him.
