"Someone's full of music tonight," he said lightly, leaning down to kiss her. He was on the short side for a male (not that it ever bothered him), but Sookie was even shorter than him, so he still had to lean toward her. "Not that I'm surprised. We kind of met because of music." He'd hated that little cupid when it first shot him, but if they showed up again next year (he doubted it, but you never know), he was going to leave them gifts. They'd led Sookie to him, after all.
"Miss you, too, love," he said, taking a moment to breathe in the scent of her shampoo from her hair. He was feeling a little bit nervous, but it was low level, always wondering in the back of his mind when the right moment to bring out the ring would be, if it was too soon. He was at least ninety-five percent sure that it wasn't too soon, but there was always a little room for doubt in his mind.
His nerves didn't show on his face, though. "I've got nothing on your cooking, but I thought everyone would appreciate not having to worry about dinner after work." He turned when the oven went off, opening the oven and, after checking them, removing the garlic bread from the oven.
"Go ahead and have a seat. I just have to drain the pasta and we should be good to eat."
