Sookie was glad she had the early shift, she wanted to spend some quality time with Matthew. On the cusp of Labor Day, she knew she'd have to spend at least half the weekend at Hooligans. She tried not to watch the women dance. They weren't regular strippers, all the girls could dance off stage as well. It made for a classier strip club. Sookie never thought she'd ever use classy and strip club in the same sentence.
As she drove into the driveway a suddenly flash of Gran went sailing through her mind. Turning off the ignition she started talking to her Gran.
'Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I wish you knew Matthew, he's amazing.' She'd talked to Gran often telling her about Matthew. She could talk forever about him. Satisfied that Gran heard her, as Gran had appeared before her when they dealt with the witches, she smiled imagining the meeting of the two people she loved most in the world.
She patted Matthew's car as she passed by it, smiling even bigger. She loved Matthew truly, madly, deeply. Excited she opened the door with great zeal. She felt different when she was around him, calmer more at peace. It was such a different experience than being with a man who could drain you dry in 2.3 seconds. She felt safe with Matther, safer than she ever felt with Bill or Eric.
'In the kitchen, Sook,' she heard him calling. Hearing him made her even more excited. The house was quiet save for the sounds coming from the kitchen. They were alone, Sookie intended on making the most of their private side. She started humming 'Happy.'
She started singing softly. Her feet began to movie to the words. She started dancing to the kitchen. There was the love of her life, her best friend, her lover. She danced around him, then grabbed his hands making him dancing. There they were quiet except for her singing.
She sang, "Because I'm Happy," she sang the lid on her left eye closing in a wink. She'd always thought she was happy in the past but true happiness had eluded her.
She slowed her dancing down as she came to the end of the song. She pulled Matthew to her, arms snaking up his chest to pull him into one magical kiss. She loved kissing him, her tongue exploring the inner chamber of his mouth as she'd done hundreds of times.
She moved her head so it was leaning against his. No words were spoken. That was one thing she loved that they could be together and just be quiet. She picked up on his nervousness, chastising herself for listening.
"I've missed you," she softly said. It was like she was just a shadow of herself when she was without him. With him, she felt - complete didn't do it justice. She felt whole and loved. "Something smells good. I can't believed you cooked, she said her eyes sparkling.
