Who: Glibt and Mark.
What: Swimming, relaxing, wedding planning.
Where: One of Glibt's new properties. Dubuque, Iowa.
When: Friday afternoon.
Warnings: Possible language and very light sexuality.
The house was beautiful. Glibt couldn't get over the fact that it had nine bedrooms and seven bathrooms. They really only needed one of each but she couldn't help but think, while touring it, that it would be the perfect home in which to raise a family eventually, the fact that it was in Iowa notwithstanding. Her giddiness, from the moment they had first boarded Mark's new private jet, to the following morning when they woke up in the master bedroom, to when Glibt had suggested they test out the pool, was palpable and wasn't fully to blame on the fact that DOMA had been ruled unconstitutional the day before. No, she was happy to get away from the city, from work - if only for a few days - and from Mark's family. And although they only had the weekend to themselves, only had a few days before work and familial drama swamped them again, Glibt was planning on milking every last moment of relaxation for all and everything that it was worth. There would be antiquing eventually as, although Glibt had called one of her contacts in Iowa and had a simple bed brought into the master bedroom, the house was unfurnished and deserved to be furnished in a style that matched the period in which it was built. There would be moments of watching the sunset from on top of the bluff the house was set on. There would be hundreds of happy, little, stress-free instants that would just make Glibt even giddier, even happier to be there and to be in love.
And on Friday afternoon, with the sun bright and the heat heady, she tugged Mark down to the pool and attempted to cajole him into swimming with her before simply giving up and cannon-balling into the pool herself, splashing Mark before swimming laps for the simple pleasure of cool water flowing around her. She also enjoyed the occasional compliment Mark threw her way from his seat in a reclining chair on the pool deck. Eventually, however, she grew tired of swimming by herself and it didn't seem like Mark would join her, no matter how much she pouted, so she finished off her final lap. Ending up in the deep end, she did a somersault or two under the water for the pure joy of feeling upside down and weightless for a moment or two before gripping the metal and plastic ladder, climbing out onto the deck and glancing up at the sun with a smile on her face. Leaving watery footsteps on the concrete behind her, she padded over to where Mark was sitting, letting her hair send drops of water falling down onto him as she knelt to kiss his cheek. Getting Mark even more wet accomplished, she slid down into the chair next to him, reaching for a pair of sunglasses so she could avoid the sometimes harsh rays of the sun and still recline at the same time.
Glancing over at her fiance, she was still smiling as wide as she had been when they first boarded the plane. "Have I mentioned how much I love this place yet?" She had, of course, but Glibt thought it deserved repeating.
