"You don't make me feel like that." He met her kiss forcefully and continued to hold her in his arms. "You never could. It's just everyone else. Layla never told you why we ended things, I guess?" Glibt's sister hadn't seen the green eyes of envy as a good look on him and though they were perfectly good friends now, the split hadn't exactly been amicable. Accusing the mother of his son of cheating on him with a member of the then young Black Panther Party hadn't been the best of strategies in the end. He'd been good, thus far, with Glibt where it came to keeping his jealously clamped down. He'd even met Harvey and kept his composure completely. The man wasn't a bad one, in the same way that Layla's friend hadn't been. It was Mark's insecurity from Ate that managed to do him in when it came to relationships. If he were to think about it long enough, maybe she was reason he'd had only two serious relationships since their whirlwind of a marriage.
"We don't have to talk about this anymore, yeah?" He pressed her lips down gently on the top of her head. "We're getting married in January. We are, that's all that matters. You're right. So, ask Harvey to be your best man. I'm going to ask Johnny in the next few weeks."
