It had been a long and somewhat odd day for Diligence. First, there was the trip to the park to check on Adonis' flowers, since she knew she would be busy all day she wanted to make sure that got done. Then, she had made her way to where she was meeting Metatron to go to Temple with him for the Sabbath, something that she had never done before but just felt right. The service had been beautiful, and only reinforced her recent beliefs on her place in the world. It was while she was on her way back home, lost in her thoughts, that the real weirdness occurred.
She had been on the train, reading a book about Judaism and contemplating what it truly meant to be Diligence, when she heard a noise nearby. The three guys who had been sitting near the other end of the compartment had moved closer. Diligence had blinked, confused, but went back to reading when they started singing. She hadn't been paying attention to the song, more overcome by what she was certain was the stench of stale smoke on their clothing, but she caught the words 'jizz in my pants' and was unable to stop herself from looking up at them in open-mouthed shock.
They seemed to be watching her quite closely, so she made the snap decision to get off the train at the next stop. She wasn't scared, exactly, but it struck Diligence that as a five foot two inch female with no discernible weapons she would have a real problem if they decided to start something. Sure, she could use her laptop bag to defend herself if it really came down to it, but she doubted that would help. She quickly dashed off the train and up the block as if she was going to the NYU campus nearby, ducking into Starbucks when she realized they were following.
Now she sat, sipping a chai latte and dutifully ignoring the guys as they kept attempting to catch her attention. They had started out polite, and she had smiled and nodded with equal politesse, but when it was clear she wasn't going to entertain them their statements got cruder. Thankfully, someone had offered to come and help her get out with minimal incident, so Diligence was patiently waiting. She was unsure of what her savior looked like, but she was too shaken up to care.
Mortals were really weird...
