[home sweet home] returning to your world ; meme

You wake up in your bed, maybe. Somewhere. Somewhere you know.

Familiar scents fill your nose, the scents of home. You get up and look around and you come to a stunning, breath-taking (and sickening?) realization. You're home again. Somehow, just now, you were whisked away from that strange place you were, for however long you lived there, with how many people you came to know, and plunked down in your home, your own world. The bubble popped and now you're left wondering... was that even real? Could it have been?

What do you do now?

The phone's ringing. Maybe you should answer that.

How To Play

- Comment to the thread with your character. It will be their "world" they've returned to.
- Other people comment to them, reconnecting or awakening next to them in that home world.
- The where, when, setting & that sort of thing are up to you!
- Freak out, panic, try to figure what to do next.

Bonus:

- Work in a time difference, Lake House style!
- Is something off about this home world? Is it even really yours?

Okay. Let's sleep.

[Not leaving, unless she tells him to and even then he'll stay close by. His phone is abandoned somewhere, turned off, and even now he's making plans for later in the day. Requesting time off. Family emergency.

Doing what he can to keep some sort of physical contact with her, Reid shifts higher up on the bed, motioning for her to come with him. Maybe if they sleep they'll wake up in Marina and none of this will be a problem. Just another chemical leak or reality shift.]

[The next few hours are spent in a state of mostly-awakeness and when he does drift off it's only for a few minutes before he forces himself awake once more. Making sure she's still there. That she's okay. Breathing, and once he's made sure of that he goes back to the hunt for answers. Something to tell her when she wakes up, a way back, or just a way for her to go back to her.

But of course there's nothing, and eventually he succumbs to exhaustion.]

[When she wakes up he's still sleeping. She watches him for a few minutes as her palm presses against the bed, unable to phase through it. He looks...tired even in sleep. There are the dark circles that mark his features, but it looks like he carries something more. Something she put there maybe.

So, she doesn't have powers. It doesn't change who she is.

She'll just keep telling herself that, and she'll get up, trying very hard not to disturb him as she does so.

The topic hasn't stopped bothering her, but she doesn't feel quite as helpless or desperate as she did before sleeping.]

Makes a noise of not-quite-awake before quickly stumbling into full alert, eyes wide open and one hand grabbing for the spot where she'd been until just now. [Is everything okay? No. This is very far from okay. The light from okay will take millions of years to reach us! But there is something in her distant expression that is drawn in closer to Reid with more focus as she looks at that worry in big, expressive eyes. With that some of her concerns fade or at least take a step further back.]</small>

[Right now the baseline for okay has shifted quite a bit. Asking if she's okay is closer to asking if the house has managed to not be even more on fire than it was half an hour ago, than actually asking if things are good. Right now he's happy as long as things don't get significantly worse.

He nods at her response, taking a moment to rub over his eyes before starting to move out of bed.]

I'll come with you.

I'm not worried about that. [Not saying he isn't worried at all.

That protest goes by ignored and he stubbornly pushes himself up on his feet, forcing himself into some sort of alertness. Yeah, he's tired. He'd greatly benefit from a few hours of actual sleep, but until he knows she's going to be at least a little more okay than she is right now that's very unlikely to happen.]

I need to call Quantico either way.

[The lack of an argument is more of a concern than a relief, but he leaves it be. Follows her out into the kitchen to retrieve his phone, before retreating to the living room so he can actually make the call. Not to avoid her, there's nothing to hide here but... he needs some space. To breathe, to think of something to say.

In the end he decides to call Hotch directly instead of calling in sick, delivering a watered-down version of the truth and a whole lot of pleading. Apparently he must've said something right, or perhaps the sleepless night and desperation is coming through in his voice because instead of the day or two he was asking for, Reid gets a full week.

He ends the call with a relieved sigh. Okay. That's taken care of. That gives them time to work this out, and so he moves back to the kitchen to check on Kitty.]

	Not too bad. I managed to get some time off. [He should get groceries, there's probably not much to find. There's usually no point keeping anything fresh in the house since he so rarely knows when he'll be home, but that's bound to change from now on.] Let me know if there's anything you want, I'll go out and stock up a little later. [He nods in turn, shifting his weight a little. It's only to be expected. It's only been a couple of hours, not nearly enough to begin resurfacing after such a life-changing turn of events. Still, now that he's thinking about it he kind of wants to get out of the apartment for a while. Get some air and solitude and sort himself out so he doesn't have to do that when he should be taking care of her. ]
