[home sweet home] returning to your world ; meme

You wake up in your bed, maybe. Somewhere. Somewhere you know.

Familiar scents fill your nose, the scents of home. You get up and look around and you come to a stunning, breath-taking (and sickening?) realization. You're home again. Somehow, just now, you were whisked away from that strange place you were, for however long you lived there, with how many people you came to know, and plunked down in your home, your own world. The bubble popped and now you're left wondering... was that even real? Could it have been?

What do you do now?

The phone's ringing. Maybe you should answer that.

How To Play

- Comment to the thread with your character. It will be their "world" they've returned to.
- Other people comment to them, reconnecting or awakening next to them in that home world.
- The where, when, setting & that sort of thing are up to you!
- Freak out, panic, try to figure what to do next.

Bonus:

- Work in a time difference, Lake House style!
- Is something off about this home world? Is it even really yours?

	I'm not... I'm not really saying anything. There are options though, options that don't end up with me flying out to Seattle at 3 in the morning. 	I wish you could. But even if we managed to speed process you through the Academy and get you approved for the BAU, I doubt they'd let us work in the same team. They're not exactly keen on inter-office relationships. [So that's what they have now.] (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[He swallows. It always comes down to this, doesn't it? About being protected. About someone else taking his beating or shutting him out for his own safety. Like he's too young and fragile to take it, which in itself is a damn insult - because when he really was young and fragile and alone, there was no one around to protect him. Back then he really needed someone to take the burden, but no one did and he's still feeling guilty for practically abandoning his mom first chance he got and now he's grown and suddenly everyone is protecting him. Shutting him out. Leaving.

It's not fair. Even less so because it's coming from her and when he speaks his voice is near breaking, like a bowstring pulled too taut.]

Stop it. Just... for once, stop protecting me.

[She hears the strain in voice when he speaks, and she knows she's the cause of it. In a way it only proves to her all the more that he needs to go for himself, but it also pulls at her. She wants to put her arms back around him, but she doesn't. Not yet.

Her voice is small when she responds.] ...It's all I have left.

[Once she had a whole world. And it broke away piece by piece until there was only a prison and a handful of inmates and now there are only the two of them, and even she doesn't feel whole anymore.]

[Something clicks at that handful of words and he's forced to bite into his lip just so he won't break right then and there.

It's not fair. For once, when he's actually capable of taking care of someone completely and fully, when he's not just a scared kid staying behind after class to avoid going home, when he can really do something... the only thing she needs is that he doesn't. He understands it, he really does, but that doesn't make it any easier to swallow.]

Kitty... [He steps back in then, and for once he's relieved that she can't phase because just the thought of her slipping straight through his arms is more than he can handle. ]
