[home sweet home] returning to your world ; meme

You wake up in your bed, maybe. Somewhere. Somewhere you know.

Familiar scents fill your nose, the scents of home. You get up and look around and you come to a stunning, breath-taking (and sickening?) realization. You're home again. Somehow, just now, you were whisked away from that strange place you were, for however long you lived there, with how many people you came to know, and plunked down in your home, your own world. The bubble popped and now you're left wondering... was that even real? Could it have been?

What do you do now?

The phone's ringing. Maybe you should answer that.

How To Play

- Comment to the thread with your character. It will be their "world" they've returned to.
- Other people comment to them, reconnecting or awakening next to them in that home world.
- The where, when, setting & that sort of thing are up to you!
- Freak out, panic, try to figure what to do next.

Bonus:

- Work in a time difference, Lake House style!
- Is something off about this home world? Is it even really yours?

I'm real. [She affirms it again for whatever good that does coming from the delusion.]

...I haven't tried yet. [But of course she can, right? Still, the question stirred up some anxiety in her as she reaches out with her other hand toward one of his cabinets. She touches it at first—solid under her fingers. Triggering her powers, she pushes her fingers against the panel and to her horror they meet resistance. The panel pushes back with equal force just like it should if she weren't a mutant.]

[She barely hears Reid, and doesn't bother acknowledging him. After a moment she reaches up to her throat when she's sure her hand won't shake. The punishment collar she wore is gone, but otherwise she's dressed just like she was when she went to bed. It looks like her body. Feels like her body. It just isn't...phasing like her body. She presses her palm to a counter, trying again and bearing down much harder than necessary. Still nothing.]

This can't be real. [She says it more to herself than him.]

[Even though this must be a thousand times more terrifying for her, he's not entirely unfazed either and getting some space to breathe and think sounds like the best idea ever.

He cracks a window open, breathing in the familiar scent of DC at 3 am. If this is fake or a delusion or projection or just plain not real then it's the best not-real thing he's ever been in contact with. For a moment he contemplates turning on the news, but decides against it. It won't add anything to the equation.

Closing the window he moves back to check on Kitty, lingering in the doorway.]

Are you..? [As okay as you could possibly be.]

I think your claws would get you arrested. [A small smile.] We'll stay out of the rougher parts of town for now. If it comes down to it I could try and get you something in the morning.
