Notes: This story takes place in an Alternate Universe where the military has a stronger presence both in life in general, and the Stargate in specific.  The military stuck around and estabilshed a base on Abydos, and when in a huge battle between the Goa'uld and the military, a good portion of the human population of the planet were destroyed or left homeless, Daniel opted to stay and help care for the surviors instead of return to Earth.  He was branded as a traitor, and is now the property of the man who turned him in - Colonel Jack O'Neill. 

Daniel struggles to keep his sanity and dignity in a world where his entire life is controled by the military, and his very survival is in the hands of those he hates and despises.  He's protected (in some ways) by O'Neill, but his status as a prisoner, leaves him open to abuse and mistreatment, accepted by all as his due for his "betrayal" of his own race.   Every night he dreams of his wife and freedom, only to wake to a world of despair from which he sees no chance of escape, except death.

I love this story.  It's bleak, and filled with horror, but Daniel's struggles to keep his dignity, and Jack's efforts to find a way to reach through to him, make this Universe real to me.  There really can be no truly happy ending, here, Daniel is always going to be a prisoner - no matter what happens.  But you hope all the way through that the two can at least find some balance that can keep them both alive and help them find some peace in their lives. 

For some reason, Quinn has taken her fiction off Area 52, but I found  this copy on The Angst Archive, thank goodness.  I saved a copy for myself.  I really don't want to lose this fic.  Quinn used to have more fic on Area 52.  If anyone knows of a website, or another archive where more of her fic is kept, please let me know!

Notes: This fic is backstory - how Jayne ends up on Serenity, and the beginning of the relationship between Mal and Jayne.  It seems very much in character for both of them, with a great side plot of Wash and Zoe just becoming a couple, and Kaylee being her usual irrepressible self.  The whole thing just fits perfectly - if Mal and Jayne were canon, this could very easily be how it would have happened.  And it makes me smile.  There's just not enough Mal/Jayne fic out there.  :::stamps foot:::  Dammit.

Notes: Mulder is going over the deep end.  Trouble at work, trouble with his partner who seems to be slipping away from him more every day.  He needs a break - a way to escape the inside of his own head for a while.  When Frohike sets him up for the vacation of his life at a sexual Fantasy Island, he thinks he may have just found the way to make it work.  But instead he finds himself getting sucked further and further into a lifestyle he can't keep up with and still maintain his sanity.   When things take a turn into danger, he ends up relying on Skinner, of all people, to help him sort out the mess his life has become, and find a way to separate himself from the obsessions that attract him, and could lead to his death.

This is a novel length fic, and I got so absorbed into it, that I finished it, and immediately turned around and read it again.  The characters were believeable, and well written - especially the original characters, even the villians, and I'll be damned if there isn't one hell of a lot of very erotic sex in this fic, too.  But be aware, most of the sex has some elements of D/s, bondage or other BDSM practices, although most of it goes no further than tethers and blindfolds.  However there is enough that goes past that to warn you about it.  And there's a fair amount of questional consent issues, as well. 

So you know...this is the fic that got me going in the X-Files Fandom.  I'd watched the show off and on, nothing much, but the fic I'd read all featured Krycek, and although I liked him, I didn't really get the Mulder/Krycek vibe.  Well, I found the vibe that does work...Skinner/Mulder and throwing in some Dom/sub issues will cinch the deal for me pretty much every time.   And it's all Kassandra's fault.

Notes: Gibbs grabs Tony and they start driving.  Tony's not sure what's going on, but he knows he needs to be there for Gibbs.  Set after Twilight as everyone at the office tries to deal with the consequences, and find a way to get Ari.   A short piece, but intense, and I liked it a lot.  Besides, it's got clothed frottage - one of my favorite kinks.
