Ditching Class

hi, remember me. the girl who totally sucks at being active. first off, i am so sorry about that. between personal issues and a new job i've been swamped. however i do have some free time now (i work at a theatre and as we only have one show it's super quiet, and after next week we're dark until Nov 23), so i'm going to be getting caught up here.

second, i know a owe a ton of tags for both tasha and dany, so if you'd rather hand wave things that's perfectly cool with me!

also please bear with me and dany, as i'm struggling with her voice right now. i want to give her one more go before deciding what to do with her.

i'm sorry to say that after much deliberation, i'm letting quinn fabray go. i had a lot of fun with her here, but i've been really busy with work and am having trouble keeping up with both her and tesla. i play quinn in another game, so i can get my q-fix elsewhere. tesla, however, will still be kicking around, snarking at everyone and drinking all the wine ever, so i'll still be here! just not with quinn. :c

Hey everyone, Eri here. With the fact that I'm starting a 2nd job soon and unable to drop another until November, I've been culling the herd here and there at other games, but I've been sitting on Talanton to try to decide who would be best to keep for the game's overall health. I apologize for being much less around than I have been in the past month or so.

That being said, I'm going to try to keep everyone for now, which I already know is going to be tough. But at the end of the year if my activity is woeful enough to be causing problems and be unmanageable, that's when you'll see me dropping things.

This is just a heads' up for you all; if you need me to get moving on a thread, or anything else, don't hesitate to give me a poke, toss a link my way, or we can do some handwaving, too.

KARMA/PLOTTING POST

To help us jump-start earning Karma and at the same time do some plotting together, let's talk a little bit about what we all want to accomplish for our characters, and what we can do to help each other with that sort of thing. You can use the form below or free style it: let us know if you've got plans for character development or plot within Talanton, along with giving us some ideas of what you can do to give other folks a hand. Give us and yourself an idea what kind of rewards would work best for you personally, and we'll try to collect things together and get going. Character: Goal: Really try to pick just one to focus on, so that you don't overwhelm yourself. Do you need to tag more/consistently? Does the character need to branch out and talk to more people? Maybe they need to learn some humility or gain some confidence. Give some detail -- how best could you accomplishment the goal (do you need a character who's very nice and understanding to befriend yours?) or would you like to see them try and fail at something and how? Offer: What can you do to help another player? Either IC or OOC, remember. Icons, new CR, modified CR, etc Best reward: What would you buy in the Karma Store (what is the most motivating)? ACTIVITY CHECK: RESULTS

These are the characters that have been dropped from Talanton due to lack of replying to the Activity Check Post. Reclaiming is not an option, but if you would like a character back, you may reapply for no more than ONE character listed here per mun. The dorm will eventually be fixed without help from students, but if nobody helps, it will not be fixed until the 42nd IC day. With the help of one student, the time that it is fixed in will drop by 2 days. (so, if 5 of you help, it will cut the repair time in half!). If enough of you sign up, the dorms could reasonably be fixed in a few days!

We've tried to break down the repair into sections so that there's less overlap and you guys can play together in little groups. They'll be starting a new stage at least every 2 IC days!

Stage One [Day 25 + 26]:

Clean up -- anyone with powers that would assist in safe removal of debris (or anyone willing to throw stuff into the slug dumpsters). So, anything to immobilize potential collapses, the ability to blast large debris out of the way, or to help eat away at blockage.

Keep in mind while we don't expect you to play out everything, if you sign up for a few stages, you should be making use of it build CR and expand on your character's knowledge. In addition, there are still two opportunities to take advantage of the continuing Oni plotting; they will always be available via a thread in the day posts for the duration of that IC day!

death and death-like symptoms

Death is permanent, for those who have no way to be ressurrected. For those who are, there's a little snafu when they come back in that they will have lost their talisman -- they will be back in NYC for one day before they can receive a new talisman and return to the campus. You will not have to interact with or request one from an NPC, it can be completely handwaved.

So! After talking to the mods, Jericho will be spotted in his dragon form. However, there are some things you should know about him in this form. There’s very little of Jericho’s consciousness in this form. He’s mostly animal, which means he will react to things as an animal would. He’s an immortal animal who knows he’s on top of the food chain. So while he won’t actively go after anyone, if provoked he will react.

He will have been in the forest in dragon form, hunting for his dinner. His dinner, in trying to escape the predator runs out of the forest toward the school and the dragon gives chase. The beast will end up climbing on the outer walls of the dormitory’s and causing serious damage to the outside of the building. I can also have him other places as well, I’m open to any and all interaction with the dragon, both violent and non-violent. Jericho is immortal and if killed, he will eventually regen in human form.

♦ Will he hurt students / how badly?
He can! Just let me know what is okay and what isn’t and if you want your guy/gal hurt or not and how badly. He has sharp teeth and talons along with six horns on top of his head to do a lot of damage with.

However, if your character would be less antagonistic and more curious toward him, he won’t be hurting you. And he might possibly just be curious about you too. Pet dragon, anyone?

♦ Can they toss powers at him in defense? What can they do to avoid getting hurt?
They are free to toss powers at him in defense or if they’re just trying to be antagonistic. Just remember that he’s a wild animal and will react accordingly if you antagonize him.

♦ Is it okay to figure out the dragon is Jericho / are there any stipulations on how that would happen?
I am all for people finding out it’s Jericho. It would just have to be plausible for them to connect the dots. In the books the beast has similar facial expressions to Jericho so anyone who had had interaction with him who tried to engage the dragon non-violently might recognize that in some way. In dragon form his eyes are blood red but they are still Jericho’s eyes. Feel free to gossip about it, conclude, whatever!

Also, if eventually he’s killed, depending on the extent of the wounds, it will take him a day or two to regen. And he will regen in human form. So if someone wanted to study the dragon after it’s killed and then there’s Jericho, that’s fine too. Or if you manage to trap him in some way, he would eventually morph back into Jericho too.

There are lots of options here depending on how the RP goes!

♦ What sort of powers/damage/strength they can expect from Jericho?
In dragon form Jericho has black scales and fur over his body. His eyes are blood red. His body is nine feet long minus the tail. He has wings too, of course with a fairly large wingspan. He’s all muscle and wild animal. Talons, teeth, two rows of three horns on top of his head. He’s strong. But not invulnerable to being caught.


And that’s all I can think of at the moment. Any more questions or additions or comments or snide remarks or ideas about how your character will react to dragon attack at the dorms in the middle of the night, let me know! Or, likewise, if you wanna have him show up somewhere else or have your character see him flying in the skies overhead then that could work too. The main event will be at the dormitory but I’m more than willing to work with you and your characte.

Updates to Rules - Power Levels + Godmoding vs Handwaving

We've received a few questions over the past month or so about students' abilities and how they might grow over their time at Talanton. The bitty system we're releasing has been ready for awhile, but we wanted to see how you as players handled the idea first, so that we could figure out if we needed to tailor any of it to gameplay as it naturally developed. Now that we're seeing more interest in it, both through OOC questions and IC play, we figure it's probably a good time to talk about power levels and lay down some policies outside of our blanket rule of "Don't be a Dick."

gettings talanton! tami here, player of one quinn fabray (cheerleader), finally bringing a second character into the game in the form of nikola tesla from syfy's recently cancelled sanctuary. yes, that nikola tesla.

he's a genius, invented radio (you're welcome) and numerous other things, is part vampire, and also kind of magneto - his listed primary ability is electromagnetism. he enjoys inventing things, feeding pidgeons, shouting at holographic maps, trolling jack the ripper, sending anonymous hate mail to the edison society, all the science ever, and drinking egregious amounts of wine. he's also a bit mad, a total wine snob, was bffs with mark twain, and is the biggest geek you will ever meet.

Hey there. I'm Nico and I bring you one original character in the shape of Suzanna Moon - an adopted child originally from York, England who moved with her IT parents to the US after her dad was employed at Google. She's got the power of Technological Assimilation, which she hates, but at least it's technology - which she loves.

She's not an obvious geek - she's more interested in people than MMOs - but she is an adrenaline junkie, which means that she's a bit of a rebel. It's nothing angsty or angry, just teenage fun taken to a bit of an extreme. If you really want to know everything, this is her app.

Yo homies, this is Emma, still on my hiatus, with a little note. I'm going to have to drop Piper McLean and PJ Halliwell. I have way too much on my plate right now and even though I loved their interactions, I'm not feeling them like I usually do and I want to give my other characters more attention. I was seriously flaking on those two and I just want to play the others more, so... they'll be leaving the school. :( Call it a family emergency or something. Not going to lie, PJ will probably be back in a few months once school and life settle down for me. Thank you to everyone that interacted with Pipes and PJ and I'm just sorry I could keep them up. Hello, everyone! Tessa here, and it's that time of the year again for us college students -- my senior year starts this coming Monday (as in tomorrow, August 20th), so I'm putting myself on a hiatus until September 2nd. I need a couple of weeks to get back in the swing of school again after this long, nice summer break that's coming to a quick end today.

for those who don't know, i'm a teacher and i go back to work on monday. normally, i'd suggest e-mailing me if you had any questions during work hours, but this is in-service week, so i'll be stuck in meetings for the most part. i'll do my best to be around for fourth wall and keep up with tags, but i'm going to put myself on slowatus just in case i get burned out and/or really swamped. my kids come back the following week (08/27), so consider this possible slow tags warning in effect for the next two weeks.
