Andromeda walked up the front steps of the Malfoy manor, smoothing out her dress robes nervously. This was her first time seeing her sister since she left the family to elope with Ted. She clutched a bottle of fine elf-made wine in one hand and a small bouquet of flowers for Bella's grave in the other. Shifting the bottle to her arm, she knocked politely on the door and waited.

Draco glanced at himself in the mirror one last time before leaving the room. Tonight was going to be a madhouse. He paused at the top of the stairs and wondered how much trouble he would get in for not coming down. He decided it wasn't worth the trouble. With a sigh he made his way down the stairs. He paused outside the living room, and fixed the appropriate Malfoy smirk onto his face and walked in.

Tonks walked up the steps, carrying Teddy in her arms. He was cooing happily, unaware to his mother's trembling hands. She didn't feel comfortable holding him, but she wound up carrying the boy anyway. "You're gonna meet your Great Aunt Cissy," she cooed, attempting to cover up her unease. "Isn't that exciting?" He babbled, blew a spit bubble, and giggled happily to himself.

She turned to glance back at Remus. "Hurry up! I don't want my aunt and uncle to get the wrong impression."

Remus ran a hand through his hair and straightened his robes. He took a deep breath. Since that night, being around Tonks was harder than it had ever been. He was overly wary of every move he made, every word he spoke, every look he gave her, convinced that even the slightest alteration from normal behavior would give him away. He composed of himself and followed Tonks hurredly. "Want me to take him for a bit?" he asked, touching his son's soft head.

Andromeda walked back into the living room some time later. It had been a sobering experience to visit Bella's grave. Even though she detested her older sister, she had to admit that she missed her.

She looked at some of the new people in the room. The boy with blonde hair had to be her nephew, Draco. The boy with glasses was Harry, and she could guess that the pretty redhead on his arm was a Weasley. She walked over to the blonde boy. "Hello, you must be Draco. I'm your Aunt Andromeda, but feel free to call me Andie."

Harry left Andromeda and Draco to Teddy and started to circle the room. He paused in front of a large window and pushed the curtains back with two fingers, peering out to watch as the sun slowly lowered beyond the hills. A chill raced through him as the lawns grew dark.

Why had he agreed to come again? He let the curtains go with a soft sigh, and glanced around himself. For the first time since he entered Snape's eyes were not tracking him. He had felt the instant Snape had turned his attention elsewhere like an abrupt change of temperature, but instead of warming he felt cold.

Ginny didn't seem fazed by his standoffish attitude and he was grateful for that small reprieve. He hadn't been certain if bringing her tonight was the best of his ideas, but the only other person he would have asked would have been Hermione, and he doubted she'd ever wish to come near this place, no matter how it had changed. Harry could admit the place did feel a bit more inviting than before, but not by much. Everything was so cold and off limits.

His wand was a comforting weight against his thigh and satisfied that no one was watching him, he closed his eyes and leaned against the wall.

Chester popped into the living room, bowing low. "Dinner is ready. If you would follow me."

He directed everyone to their seats - Lucius at the head with Narcissa to his left and Severus to his right. From Narcissa's left sat Andromeda, Tonks, Draco. From Severus' right sat Ginny, Harry, Remus.

"Tonight's menu starts off with tomato, cucumber, and feta salad. After there is pear flavored sorbet to cleanse the palate. Followed by that is roasted shrimp and orzo and pan roasted black grouper with wild shrimp, black-eyed pea cakes, applewood smoked bacon, frisee salad and smoked tomato coulis.

"Dessert will be chocolate pecan cake with white chocolate mocha sauce and the wine selected for tonight is Sauvignon Blanc."

She wanted to grab her wand and start hexing people left and right for ruining her dinner party. And did Ginny say that Harry's parents were alive? Harry caught up with Ginny just in time to see her take a handful of Floo powder and leave the Manor in a swirl of green flames. He stood there staring at the fireplace as if willing it to relight and have Ginny come tumbling out the other way. If he had gotten the opportunity to choose when or where he and Ginny ended their relationship, it would not have been in this place.

It seemed his initial misgivings about this party were coming true. Nothing good did seem to happen at Malfoy Manor.

Cheek still stinging, Harry turned on his heel and headed back towards the dining room. Unlike Ginny, he felt a strong sense of responsibility to at least stay for the meal.

He slipped through the double doors and slid onto his seat beside Snape, laying his napkin back across his lap, not looking at anyone, and not bothering to explain away his absence. There would have been no point.
