With a Glass of Wine Characters: Aiden Adams, Sophia Redford. Setting: Aiden’s apartment. Content: Worksafe. Summary: After a hard few days Aiden takes time off and seeks advice from an old friend.
It had been a strange few days. Firstly meeting Alexander Moretti at the museum opening, and then being asked on a date by him. Aiden had known a little about the man before hand, everyone did, but he’d goggled him and found any number of articles speculating on his private life. He’d read so much about his predecessors – all attractive, smart and talented – that he’d found it daunting to imagine he would join this list, especially when he felt so very ordinary in comparison.
Then of course there had been Danny’s visit and that on its own had been bad enough, dredging up old memories and feelings he was still trying to let die as peaceful a death as they could. Seeing Alistair Lane though, having to speak to him, being trapped with the man had really done a number on his self-esteem. It would be so easy to believe what he’d said, to blame himself for the divorce and everything that had come before it. After all, why would Danny cheat if not because he wasn’t getting what he wanted at home?
Those thoughts were becoming too prevalent for Aiden’s liking. He needed to talk to someone, someone who’d known both him and Danny during the divorce, someone who always knew what he was thinking and what he should do.
He picked up his phone, the number on speed dial. “Hi, Sophia? Can you come over for a while? I thought we could get some take-out and open a bottle of wine.”
