Dear Friends of Snarry:
Dear Friends of Snarry:

Hi. My name is [info]djin7, and it's time to say a final goodbye to the Snarry Games.

The Snarry Games was invented to celebrate the rebirth of Walking The Plank )

The Future of the Snarry Games )

I would like to take this time to thank some people who really went above and beyond the call of duty during the last four years )

To the viewers, watchers, supporters and judges: We sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support. We are hopeful, thanks to your overwhelming response over the years, that our mission to keep Snarry vibrant, progressive, and to empower more fans to come aboard the SS Snarry will continue to resonate within the Harry Potter community that we proudly served.

We certainly hope that all of you reading this will remember the Snarry Games the way we will: with great fondness, as a tribute to what is truly the best and most diverse group of fen in the Harry Potter world. We encourage all of you to participate in the many fests that are currently available in the fandom, whether Snarry or not, and we hope that you will find many ways to inspire you once we are gone.

Since 2006, we have been blessed to feature the fiction and art shared with us by some of the most talented people this fandom can offer, and we can’t begin to express our gratitude for the work that they have produced for all to enjoy.

Thank you all for your loyalty, laughter and love.

Cheers,

I would thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you my heart has no bottom.
Dear Friends of Snarry:

This was an amazing year, with a new "mixed art and fic" format, and our largest ever. It once again showed that the most talented people are still within the Snarry fandom. We had 50 truly exquisite pieces of art plus 50 excellent stories, and as always – fantastic and entertaining Opening and Closing Games ceremonies!

Also, many Champions, past and present, helped this round of the Games with pimping and reccing, and commenting. Our hope always has been to help facilitate a sense of community in this fandom, hoping to keep the SS Snarry sailing through calm waters. When we see how fantastically supportive the champions are, whether author or artist, it makes all our hard work worth every minute spent. Thank you, all!

Before we announce the medalists for the 2009 Mixed Snarry Games, I would like to take this time to thank some people who really went above and beyond the call of duty this round )

The scores are great, but the real reward for our Champions are the wonderful, thoughtful comments from the readers. At the Games, we are lucky to have thousands of comments, all of which keep this fantastic level of talent returning home to us.

To all the readers and fans who helped make this project a huge success: you truly have my deepest gratitude. Thanks to you all, for watching and reviewing, for voting and pimping, and for reccing and listing! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! *applauds*

**Remember that even though the polls are now closed for this round, these entries will remain up, so please: if you haven't taken the time yet, it's not too late. Please revisit the entries, and comment, comment, comment!

Stay tuned for the final announcements! The totals are in, and have been tallied. The moment you've all been waiting for is up next, the 2009 Snarry Art Games Medal Ceremony!

There is yet more to come this week, including information about our fourth annual Snarry Games Art Tribute Video, a fabulous concept provided by our most illustrious Snarry Vidder and Snapecast Editor, [info]chaeche. You will also find posting instructions for Walking the Plank, and final mod notes including an announcement about the future of the Snarry Games.

Thank you!

There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.
Dear Friends of Snarry:

Hi. My name is [info]djin7, and it's time that we begin to say goodbye to the 2008 Snarry Games.

This was an amazing year, and the Art Games once again showed that the most talented people are still within the Snarry fandom. We had 50 truly exquisite pieces of art, and as always, great 'crack art' & interviews. We were able to post twice daily for nearly a month, and we have a great group of artists to thank for that.

Also, many Champions, past and present, helped this round of the Games with pimping and reccing, and commenting. Our hope always has been to help facilitate a sense of community in this fandom, hoping to keep the SS Snarry sailing on happy waters. When we see how fantastically supportive past champions are, whether author or artist, it makes all our hard work worth every minute spent. Thank you, all!

I ran across a quote that reminded me of fandom; and of Snarry in particular:
"What moves men of genius, or rather what inspires their work, is not new ideas, but their obsession with the idea that what has already been said is still not enough."
(Eugene Delacroix)

No matter what the poll results, each artist brought something brand-new to Snarry, and gifted us with an ever deeper appreciation for the fandom we love. Severus Snape and Harry Potter continue to inspire us all in new and exciting ways: may we always be this rich with inspiration!

Before we announce the medalists for the 2008 Summer Art Games, I would like to take this time to thank some people who really went above and beyond the call of duty for this round )

Break for Election Results!
Snarry fans!

The 2008 Snarry Summer Art Games are nearly over!

Due to the (understandable) overwhelming coverage of the Election, we'd like to take the night off, and post the next Art entry tomorrow morning.

We do this to prevent any piece from getting lost amidst a sea of political posts, and we wish everyone in the U.S.A. good luck in their pursuit of happiness!

You can also take this time to catch up on older entries, using our handy *Wrap Up/Recap Posts*

We only have 6 entries left, which will be three days of posting starting tomorrow, then a short voting hiatus, so the Judges can catch up. Very soon thereafter, we will count up the polls and award the Gold Medal of Snarry!

Stay tuned tomorrow!

Friends of Snarry:

Hi. My name is [info]djin7, and I would like to say a few words to you all.

Before we announce the results of the 2007 Winter Snarry Games polls, I would like to take this time to thank some people who really made this year's Games a smashing success. We have had a pretty rough time of it these last few months, but rather than going over the bad, I wish to move forward and talk about all the good, and the community that we have, which is worth its weight in gold medals:

I would like to thank [info]glockgal for donating our beautiful Snarry Games artwork for 2007. I would also like to thank [info]pervart for our layout using the artwork and providing us with pimp banners, icons, and the personalisation of the medals, as well as her tireless work to edit all the banners and medals from last year to conform to our new name. It was because of them that we joined in the HP Quills For A Cause effort this year, and we are humbled by the gifts they bestow upon us. Much ♥LOVE♥ and kudos to them both!

I would also like to thank [info]medawyn, [info]alafairnadia and [info]earthphoenix for their mod help this year, from helping organise the memories to coding interviews and entries, and helping with the Name Change Incident. Thank you all so much! We hope you stick around for the next games.

To [info]meredyth_13, [info]shadowpryde, and [info]magic_helmet, who came through with some outstanding volunteer work at the end of the games that really saved our asses. ♥ Also, to the volunteers who helped to keep this ship afloat after it had been almost sunk during the Name Change Incident:

[info]alisanne,[info]captain_tulip, [info]elfwreck [info]r_grayjoy, [info]ms_beeblebrox, [info]txrabbit, [info]montana_dan, [info]maskofsmiles[info]joanwilder[info]rory8, [info]sansa1970, [info]inspiredlife, [info]verdenia, [info]legomymalfoy, [info]suemonroe, [info]briarwolf, [info]chaeche and [info]swtalmnd.

Thank you to [info]igtow and [info]lampblack for their gifts of paid time for us this year! And to our mysterious rose benefactor, as well! ♥

Thank you to the Artists who sent in the wonderful Opening Games Crack!Art to help us fill the spaces between when the authors were scribbling away. ♥♥♥ as well as to the Closing Games Drabblers who helped us distract you while we were counting. *g*

Thank you to DJIN's ARMY. You all know why. I am not worthy. *Squishes you all*

Thank you to [info]oulangi, who helped me several times this year when I considered walking over a cliff with an anvil, or being a stupid Gryffindor. She was the yin to my yang, and helped to keep me calm and rational when the seas were roughest. Thank you! ♥

A very special thank you goes out to [info]aliciamasters and [info]reddwarfer, who both have alternatively supported me, stood up to me, listened to me, talked to me, carried my burdens and helped me in ways that cannot be properly expressed in words - I thank you both so much. You are the best of the best and whenever I feel like I need a true friend, you guys are there for me, taking time out of your busy lives to help me in my projects. For all the things you do, I wish I could give you your own medals. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

To all the readers and fans who helped make this project a huge success: My deepest gratitude. Thanks to you all, we are now being Watched By: 1900! To you all, for reading and reviewing, for voting and pimping, for reccing and listing! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! *applauds you all *

Hi! [info]djin7 here. How's everyone doing? Getting excited yet? We've already received several awesome entries, and I can't tell you how excited I am to start sharing them! This year's Games are going to be killer. Posting begins April 14th. *woot*

I'd like to take a moment to thank all the people who have helped out here at the Games, the mod squad who have done various tours of duty here at the Games, in 2006 & 2007:

[info]annephoenix, [info]coell, [info]snakeling, [info]medawyn, [info]alafairnadia, [info]lizardspots, [info]earthphoenix. Thank you!

Today, however, I would also like to give special thanks to my two right-hand women, who have helped me from the very beginning, and are still slaving away for me, because I never intend to let them get away: [info]reddwarfer and [info]aliciamasters! To thank them, I am returning the favour from last year, where they made me do an evil interview. To that end, I give you:

MOD INTERVIEW # 1, Reddwarfer! )

TO THE SNARRY CONTESTANTS, a special thank you...

Original poster: snarrymod

We are nearly ready to present the Games Medals. But before we do, some words from me, the mod, [info]djin7.

When I first started this little project, I was stunned then at the response it got, and am even more flabbergasted at the continuing support we have received. In this tl;dr post**, I explain why I started this community, and the need for it. Apparently, I was not alone. The response has been phenomenal from Contestants and Watchers alike.

Before I present the medals, I would like to take this opportunity to review the Contestants from this most excellent round of the 2006 Snarry Games, and I have a few special words for some people who have helped to keep this ship afloat. We are only as seaworthy as our crew, and I'm lucky to have the most stalwart, warm-hearted, hard-working fen alive in the Snarry ship.

So without further ado, the reviews that I wasn't able to do when I was busy posting:

CUT! That's a WRAP!

Original poster: djin7

Well, this is it, folks. I sincerely hope everyone had a good time, enjoying all the outstanding art for the first ever Summer Art Snarry Games. We sure did. Thank you, Champions!

Some final notices for this round, before we go on hiatus until the next Games, scheduled for February, 2007. This comm will not be completely silent, however, as we will be pimping some affiliates and some new communities fashioned after ours, that we are very excited about. /cryptic

Firstly, some links of note:

  • Master list of 2006 Snarry Games Summer Art. All the art will remain here, unless otherwise linked by the artists. Should you want your art to be housed somewhere other than here, please let us know which link you wish to use, thank you!

  • 2006 Summer Art Snarry Games Medal Ceremony for those who haven't yet seen the gorgeous medals, banners and icons made and donated by the most excellent and talented [info]mizbean.

  • Go see the hilarious [info]lolz_4_djin community, in which the Champions do cracktastic variations on their prompts! Hee ♥!

  • Check out the most excellent Closing Games Commemorative Video by Team Angst artist and Vidder, [info]chaeche. It's incredible, spotlighting most of the art from this round! Thank you, [info]chaeche!

  • [info]teamangst_art also did a cracktastic Closing Games Haikus and Limericks post, which are awesome. Do check it out!

  • Team Romance ([info]teamromance_art) wanted me to make an announcement on their behalf. While the Snarry Games were in progress, they wanted to show Team Angst ([info]teamangst_art) how much they appreciated the fabulous wealth of excellent art that they shared with everyone, so they held private polls (lead by [info]chrysos) for every Team Angst entry, and voted on them. The final tally came in just before the medal round, and the results were thus:

Games MVP for Team Angst, as voted upon by all the artists in Team Romance:

First: [info]anoiro, for Stealing My Heart Away.

First Runner-Up: [info]_odella_, for Song For The Dead.

Second Runner-Up: [info]ponderosa121, for What Shapes Us.

    How fabulous is that?

  • Speaking of Most Valuable Players, the mods all agree that [info]glockgal was a stellar example of one during these Games, supplying not one, but two excellent entries for her Team ([info]teamromance_art), but also working hard to help beta her teammates over at their comm, and still commenting on every entry during these last 4 weeks, for both Teams. This kind of participation, support and dedication to Snarry is exactly what we are trying to promote with these Games, and to that end, we have invited [info]glockgal to be our official Artist for the 2007 Games! We have asked her to do the 2007 community art, which features [info]lizardspots most excellent art this year. We look forward to inveiling it after New Year's. Thank you, [info]glockgal!

  • A special thank you goes out to the pinch-hitters who came through in the last minute. Some were exhibited as team entries; others only after the Games, as the Champions sent in their entries. We will see you all at the next Artist Games, thank you all so much! ♥♥♥

  • Don't forget to include your Art (and fics, Winter Champions!) over at the Walking The Plank Snarry Games Series! Here, the most fabulous mod [info]aliciamasters tells you how. ♥

  • Reminder to Champions: Anyone wanting their individual poll vote tallies can request them privately through the Snarry Games Gmail account. ♥

Most entries, stories, art, and FAQs can be found via the side link table on the Comm Page, or in the Snarry Games Memories, including all the wonderful Champions Interviews.

I think that's all for now, but keep an eye open here for the earlier things I mentioned, as well as a poll to help gauge the success of this Games, and for concrit on how we can make it better! Thank you all, once again.

Cheers!

Hi!

I hope everyone is getting excited about the upcoming 2007 Games! I sure am.

Last year, when we sent out invites to join our little project to herald the Grand Re-Opening of Walking The Plank, we were expecting a much smaller response. I honestly didn't believe that many Snarry writers would be so keen to participate, given both the blow canon gave us in The Half Blood Prince, and all the fests that were already happening.

Boy, was I mistaken. Not only was I surprised with the flurry of positive responses, but the lj community expressed their desire to join in!

Well, we were chuffed, naturally, and excited. The teams ended unevenly, so a sign-up post was held to level the playing field. The response to the sign-up post was even more overwhelming. Unfortunately, we had to cap it somewhere. As the user info states, this is a limited sign up competition, by necessity. Two stories a day for nearly a month meant that most people could barely keep up.

Unfortunately, capping the teams meant that some people who had asked to play could not. We did a Lottery for those who signed up: those who were not chosen and the lovely writers who did Closing Games Drabbles for us were automatically guaranteed* an invite to this year's Games out of appreciation.

This year, we sent out those invites. We also invited last year's Champions to play again, as a thank you for their support and their excellent contributions to our project. A few authors who were invited to compete last year but were unable to, asked to be considered for this year. They received theirs as well.

The teams have increased in members by 50%. We were unable to do a general sign-up as a result.

This means two things:

  1. Based on last year's guaranteed invites alone, the 2007 Winter Snarry Games has their final teams. Thirty-three Competitors with three Alternates per team. Two stories a day for more than month.

  2. As a result of not having a lottery this year, in 2008, we are committed to having a number of spaces to be available for sign-up contestants

For now, though, there are still ways to participate.

Last year's Drabblers were among our most popular features of the Games. We welcome Closing Games Drabblers again this year, however, we can no longer guarantee* an invite to the succeeding Games. We can, however, guarantee a readership of those drabbles to the tune of more than 1400 readers, and the chance to showcase your wares using Snarry Games prompts. Details will be posted soon.

I have no words to express how thankful I am that so many people want to participate in this little fest of mine, and I truly wish I could sign up everyone who wants to play.

I still want everyone to enjoy themselves, reading and voting, writing and participating. I truly hope you do. ♥

Sincerely,

[info]djin7

*tap, tap* Is this thing on? *ahem*

Hi!

Snarry Champions, Judges and fans! After many hours of tabulation, the mods would like to announce that we have the final numbers, and we are nearing the end of the first ever Summer Art Games!

Before we announce the results of the second Snarry Games, the first featuring artists, I would like the say that it has been a pleasure to see all the wonderful art presented by our 2006 Champions, showcasing not only their talent, but their teamwork and diligence.

There are no 'losers' here. The fabulous art we've been gifted with as a fandom, the solidarity of the Champions, and the participation of the judges and fans has made this Games a fantastic success! We have all won! Soon, the Champions will receive their hard-earned medals, and no matter the colour of it, it is with pride that we bestow them, so deserving are they.

Stay tuned: There will be a few more mod posts coming up, and the 2006 Summer Art Games Medal Awards Ceremony will take place within the next 48 hours.

Thank you all!
DJIN7 and the Mods of the Snarry Games ♥

AN OPEN THANK-YOU LETTER TO FANDOM, Champions, AND JUDGES (THE FANS) )

The totals are in, and have been tallied. Three times by three different mods. This means that the Medal Ceremonies will be tomorrow, at approximately 7am Pacific Standard Time. Stay tuned!

Cheers!
