Many Thanks, DJ
DJ, thanks so much for all that you do running Snarry Games. I've participated in two fests, and though they were nerve wracking, they were also some of the best fun that I've ever had. This last fest was simply magnificent (I almost died from the awesome overload), and a wonderful way to go out. Thanks again!
To show my appreciation, here's a little gift for you.
Title: The Next Adventure
Word Count: 440
Summary: After years of being at everyone's beck and call, Severus and Harry embark on their next adventure.
Author's Notes: For DJ, mod extraordinaire, who has hosted snarry_games for years and made it such an awesome place for Snarry fans to read fic and view art. Thank you so much for all you've done!
Harry had to sit on his suitcase to zip it. He couldn't believe how many clothes he owned, but then again, he had never packed all of his clothing before. Today was a first for many things.
He looked around the room with a twinge of nostalgia. The bedroom was bare. He and Severus had decided that it was time to partake of their next adventure. They had no set plans other than to relocate to Tahiti (ostensibly for Severus to conduct potions research with some of the many magical plants that were abundant there), but for once, the two men were enjoying the lack of demands.
Harry did have some reservations. After all, Hogwarts had been his home for more than half his life, first as a student, then as an apprentice, and finally as a teacher. It would be difficult to leave this life behind, but the time had come. He and Severus both agreed that there was more to life that the castle's walls and they deserved to enjoy it. Harry glanced around the room one last time, making sure that he had everything. Satisfied that nothing was left behind, he walked out of the bedroom with his suitcase.
Severus was waiting for him at the door.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Harry?" Severus asked, seeing the sad look on Harry's face.
Harry shook his head to clear away the melancholic thoughts and smiled beatifically at Severus.
"Yes, I'm sure."
"Good. I would hate to have to embark upon this next journey without you at my side," Severus said, returning Harry's smile.
Harry laughed, loving how Severus always knew what to say. "I'm fine, Severus. Yes, Tahiti will be a big change for us, but a welcome one. I'm looking forward to having nothing to do, no fans or stalkers, just us."
"Agreed, brat," Severus replied. "Hurry, the portkey leaves in thirty minutes, and we still have to say goodbye to Minerva and Hagrid."
"I'll be right behind you," Harry said as Severus walked through the door.
Harry took one last look around the room, soaking in all the warmth and love that he and Severus had created. He would miss Hogwarts, but he knew that their leaving was not truly a goodbye. When the time was right, he and Severus would return.
"Goodbye," Harry whispered as he walked out the door. "We're off to our next adventure, and I can't wait."
Harry quickened his pace to catch up to Severus. It would not do to be left behind. Harry didn't know what surprises awaited them, but he could not wait to start.
