Today we recognize the hard-won achievement and dedication of both authors and artists and their teams who strive for excellence in fanworks and Snarry. I know that every Champion worked hard for the good of their team and they all deserve highest marks for their efforts. We were all lucky to have won something during these Games. We designed this year's Games to encourage boldness, to try new things and set new standards, and we feel that all the Champions answered the bell admirably.

However, in the competition we set out to do, the Snarry Games Judges (you, the readers) have voted to score these teams, both having shown up to these Games with the most stellar of performances, allowing one to edge out the other for Gold.

Danny Foster (and his wife Kirsty) are taken from the BBC series Party Animals which revolves around the lives of young Labour and Conservative political researchers and lobbyists. Nemworth Interrogation Unit and various other MI5-related elements are taken from or influenced by the BBC series Spooks. In addition, I must give major props to the highly informative and incredibly helpful factsheets hosted on the website of the United Kingdom Parliament, which, when printed, fill two reams of paper and a four-inch binder. The title is a nod toward a fragment of verse by John Taylor.


Summary: The State Security Forces come not in the middle of a dark night as one might expect, but on a bright, sunshiny Sunday morning just after the sausages are set on the kitchen table.

Artist's Notes/Disclaimers/Thank you: to TEAM CAULDRON for the wonderful last minute support and art criticism, and the snarry_games mods for giving me this opportunity to participate as an alternate and for working out the pinch hitters at the end so this piece can count for points! Thank you especially to bethbethbeth for finding this passage (see below) of "Paradise Lost," successfully maneuvering me away from painting Snape and Harry meeting Batman in Gotham city.
I can finally say I participated in snarry_games! I rushed this piece after taking the MCAT on September 10th, which meant working 50+ hours over 4 days to get this done. Which...towards the end, was absolutely miserable. But meeting the deadline and finally participating in snarry_games (which almost wasn't possible because the MCAT)? Priceless. You will notice that Harry's legs are covered/wrapped in requisite-neoclassical modesty fabric. That is because at 2 a.m., I spent 2 hours trying to paint his legs, wildly unsuccessful due to exponentially dwindling attention span and energy. But, I rationalize that this mild bondage imagery symbolizes the imminent union of two souls, to be bound together, which is our very human visualization of a far more unrestricted Spirit embrace as described by Milton. This piece has a print size of 28 inches wide by 11 inches tall.
