OFFICIAL PROMPT AND GENRE CLAIMING POST.

OFFICIAL PROMPTS & GENRES CLAIMS POST

Our most esteemed 2008 Summer Snarry Games Teams have already been given this list of prompts and genres to peruse for several days.

This weekend, they must each commit to their Genre(s) and Prompt(s). Then we will light the torch and the games will BEGIN!

Champions are required to pick THREE (3) between their prompts and genres. Combinations can be either TWO genres and ONE prompt, or ONE genre and TWO prompts. There are TEN (10) Genres and FIFTY (50) Prompts total. This must be done before end of day, Tuesday, September 2, PST.

The judges will rate each entry based on genre(s), prompt(s), and overall performance.

So, without further ado, The List: )

*Champions: Please list your Team, your chosen genre(s) and your prompt(s) in a comment to this post.

*Alternates do not have to choose at this time.

REMEMBER: Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success!

The sign up post will be up for twenty-four (24) hours ETA: 48 hours!. It will be at our InsaneJournal here: snarry_games . Our teams this year will coincide with the Fic Games: "Team Dragon" and "Team Phoenix". The Genre choices will also remain the same:

2. Alternate Universe
3. Humour &/or Crack
4. Canon
5. Postwar
6. Angst
7. Alternate Reality
8. Horror
9. Hurt/Comfort
10.Wartime

As with the Fic Games, The prompts will be revealed upon team assignment. The teams will be given several days to peruse both the prompt and genre list and will be asked to commit to their choices by the end of the weekend. At that point, the teams will be off and running! Posting begins October 6, 2008.

You can find our (2007) FAQs on the Art Games HERE, and our Art Champions Master lists for 2006 Art Games and the 2007 Art Games.

After we announce the teams, we will be posting our seasonal concrit poll. The Snarry Games grow every year, and the viewing audience always gives us great feedback. We invite you to continue to watch the comm., and give us constructive feedback in order to make this year’s Art Games the best ever! We always give our Games a thorough review before launching a new season.

**If you will not be available for the sign-up, but wish to participate, please send an e-mail to Snarry.Mod[at]gmail.com, and we will enter you in your absence.

Team size will depend on overall participation, and we hope to include everyone. Previous years have seen between 70-80 participants. Should the response this year exceed those numbers by a significant amount, we will then employ a lottery system. In the event a lottery is necessary, any artist who is not assigned a team will be placed on the Alternate list. Any alternate who does not get called into service during the Games will be invited to submit Crack!Art for the Closing Games Ceremonies.

Thank you for supporting the Snarry Games!

CUT! That's a WRAP!

CUT! That's a WRAP!

Hey, everybody! I apologise for the delay.

We have some final things to wrap up, and then we go on a (VERY) short hiatus before we begin again in the very late summer for the Snarry Art Games.

♥I really hope everyone enjoyed the 2008 Winter Games, and I'd like to thank, once again, everyone who participated, from my Champions and mods, to the fans and judges. Thank you all so much!

♥I'd like to again point everyone to our fabulous Medal Award Ceremony, so you can once again look at the lovely art by [info]tripperfunster, as well as the wonderful graphics by [info]swtalmnd.

♥Reminder to Champions: Anyone wanting their individual poll vote tallies can request them privately through the Snarry Mod Gmail account. That applies to all Champions from previous years, too. ♥

♥Some links for bookmarking, as well:

Stories from 2007 can be found by various TAGS (soon to be found on the sidebar in the Comm main page, along with the links to the 2006 and 2007 Fic and Art), including by:
**Team Dragon
**Team Phoenix
**2008 Master List of Fic entries.

♥The stories will remain here unless otherwise requested by the authors, we can link directly to your sites and/or journals in lieu, just let us know the link you wish us to use. Authors are free to archive anywhere now that the Games are over.

♥ Don't forget about the fabulous Closing Games Bloopers and Stories, and the Opening Games Crack!Art!

If you wish to get to know your favourite authors or teammates a little better, don't forget to check out the Champion Interviews!

♥Team Dragon gave us a wonderful Soundtrack.

♥Mod Extraordinaire and Headmistress of Walking The Plank, [info]aliciamasters offers a WALKING THE PLANK UPLOADING AMNESTY to ALL Champions for the month of July - previous champions (authors and artists) from years past, take note!

♥♥♥Speaking of ART - guess what is closing in upon us? That's right, the 3rd Annual Snarry Art Games! We normally post the Art Games starting Late September through to October. It looks like this year (for the first time) we may have some competition from the Drarry quarter of fandom. I look forward to seeing our Artists step up to show them how it's done. Keep a sharp eye out, sign ups are coming soon!

♥ Also, speaking of Walking the Plank - don't forget to RSVP for the Snarry Meetup being held at Terminus in Chicago in August - anyone from last year at Prophecy can tell you the WtP meet was the talk of the town! Go to [info]snarry_terminus and RSVP HERE

Lastly, Our 4th Annual "Fandom Fest How-To Poll", in which we ask about how we can improve for next year, and how our changes from last year affected participants and fans alike, will be up in the next couple of days. We'd love to hear what you have to say!

On a personal note, I would like to invite all of you to check out the wonderful Thank you that Team Dragon did up for me, and there are some excellent and entertaining things to be seen there, such as drabbles, ficlets, crack and LOVE:

Walking the Plank wants YOU!
Hello, everyone!

This was a spectacular selection of fics, and a banner year for the number of entries! Thanks to everyone who participated. This is a great fandom.

As you all know, [info]djin7 & [info]reddwarfer  are both mods at Walking the Plank[info]aliciamasters (that's me!) is lucky enough to be the headmistress.  Therefore, we would be honored and overjoyed if you decided to host your fic at Walking the Plank, now that the fest is over.

We have created TWO TEAM open series under djin7's name, one for Team Dragon and one for Team Phoenix.

Due to the tremendous team spirit, we have also added two other series: 2008 Comment Porn, under RaeWhit, and 2008 Opening & Closing Ceremonies, which can include all the wonderful extras posted on the comm.

If you've never hosted at Walking the Plank, it is a moderated community of Snarry fanfiction and fanart.

Here's where you sign up for an account.  You'll love it:  I promise!

These are the submission guidelines.  In addition, we have walkthroughs created to help you figure out how to post.

Once it's up, reply to this post, and I will take it through the submissions process and add it to the series, so that everyone who followed the Snarry Games can find your teammates' stories together. All your entry needs to say is I'm ready!  (It can say more if you want, though.) If you are struggling, or need help getting your entry up on the site, let me know.  We'll work something out.  My e-mail is aliciamastersATgmailDOTcom.

Here are a few FAQs about an Open Series.
Get your questions answered here. )
Are you fascinated by Walking the Plank? We are always looking for volunteers, both as mods and technical support. Here are the volunteering guidelines. I was very lucky to be a mod on this contest, and I'm amazed at the talent in our fandom!  Meanwhile, I hope you will consider WTP a home for your art.If you agreed to archiving, but you don't have time to upload, I will contact you to arrange a mod upload. I'd love to have a complete set of Champions. (Hint, hint, Earlier Champions! We still have a few stories & artwork missing!)   REMEMBER:  if something is stopping you, please feel free to contact me.  Maybe we can work it out.

Special Note: the WTP mods are having a Snarry Games fic & art AMNESTY for July. We will be offering to help upload fic and art by posting on the original post, and will also accept requests on this post. If you will have the time to do it yourself, we would appreciate your help in doing so, but if you have never posted your art or fic, and don't think you will without our help, let us do it for you. We want to have all the 2006, 2007 and 2008 series completed by the end of August, if the champions are willing. After LJ strikethrough 2007, we want to ensure that work this good always has a home, and we want a searchable, useable team listing for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you for letting me be a part of this experience!  I hope I see you at Walking the Plank soon!

2008 Winter Games Medal Ceremony
Today we again recognize the hard-won achievement and dedication of authors and their teams who strive for excellence in Snarry.

As always, it is the fans that are really the winners here. Our Champions all worked hard to entertain us, to allow us a glimpse into different worlds and characters that we hold near and dear. We thank them ALL for this gift they share.

However, in the competition we set out to do, the Judges (you, the readers) have voted to score these creative authors and their teams, both of which have alternatively stunned and excited us, allowing one to edge out the other for Gold by again, the smallest of margins. So without further ado:

Ladies and gentlemen, our GOLD MEDAL WINNERS, with a total of 855 out of a possible 945 points:

Team Dragon!

Congratulations to our 2008 Snarry Winter Games Gold Medal Winners!

And our SILVER MEDAL WINNERS, with a total of 844 out of a possible 945 points:

TEAM PHOENIX ALTERNATE STORY: Unbroken_Halo "Chains of Burden"
Nearing the very end of the Games, the mods needed an emergency pinch for Team Phoenix. Three team members stepped up to bat, and we are pleased to present the second of two Alternate stories that did not make it into the Games for the team. Enjoy!

Title: Chains Of Burden
Author: [info]unbroken_halo
Team: Phoenix
Genre(s): Romance
Prompt(s): Trial, Learning to Dance
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: NC-17, * First time, bonding fic, some DH compliant but much disregard to canon in general.*
Word Count: ~10, 384
Summary: We, the Wizards and Witches of the Wizengamot, find the defendant, Severus Snape, guilty of the charges of murder. From this day forth, he is sentenced to Azkaban; with no parole, stripped of his title and magicks immediately.
A/N: Thanks to [info]alisanne, [info]eeyore9990, and [info]jin_fenghuang for the cheerleading, handholding and betas. Viva Las Vegas, darlings. Any mistakes you find now are entirely my fault as I had to fiddle with it one last time. *g*
Disclaimer: Harry Potter and Company belong to JK Rowling. No money was made writing this bit of fiction.

TEAM DRAGON: I Got Tired of Waiting "The Name Game"
Today, another mystery solved, as we discover what it was about Norbert et Chloë by Team Dragon member, [info]igtow that was so familiar...

We present:

The Name Game

Way back in the beginning, I took the challenge to include into my story the screen name for everyone in Team Dragon. Strictly as a diversion, should you be bored, I put together a listing of where all the names are (including the alternates) in the order in which they appear. I hope it's at least vaguely amusing.

The Name Game )

Thank you, [info]igtow!

Stay tuned here at the Games, we have another story for you, and very soon, the results of the 2008 Winter Author Games!

Many thanks to my betas from Team Phoenix: [info]perverse_idyll, [info]alisanne, [info]iulia_linnea, [info]ziasudra, and [info]mistressmaraj.

TEAM DRAGON'S CHALLENGE: HERE BE DRAGONS!
Today we bring you a Closing Games special from Team Dragon, which may answer some questions our readers had during the Games. They also have a special message for Team Phoenix!

Team Dragon sends us the "Here Be Dragons" Challenge:

(caution to Dial-up users)

Team Dragon challenged itself to include a dragon somehow in each of their stories. Some authors just mention the word itself, but others have featured actual dragons, running the gamut from pets to companions, from side-kicks to major characters. There is even one story where Harry is a dragon.

There are awards to be made, not that any Team Dragon member was motivated by booty the allure of a prize. Inside, gathered for your viewing pleasure, are excerpts from each of the 29 stories by authors who answered the call, along with their award banners. Many of the stories had more than one dragon passage, so the author has chosen their favorite to represent their story. Homage is paid within to all members of the team, as well as to Team Phoenix who, for whatever reason, also heeded the call of the Here Be Dragons Challenge, and mentioned or featured dragons in their stories.

We hope you'll be enticed to enter our lair, and snuggle up to the side of the dragon and read for a while, where it's toasty warm, where there are riches and romance and danger. Team Dragon thanks you, our readers, for your loyalty and gracious comments during the Games. You made our Snarry hearts swell with pride and a ROAR!

Remember and revisit with us some of our finest Snarry moments!

HERE BE DRAGONS! )

Thank you, Team Dragon!

Stay tuned this week for more mysteries being solved, some reviewers being singled out for their awesomeness, and some wonderful stories provided by Alternates. Very Important Mod Posts will follow. Enjoy!

TEAM PHOENIX BLOOPERS!
Yesterday, we told you about Team Phoenix's challenge to Team Dragon for the following:

The Challenge:

Simple. The author quotes an excerpt from their own story and then steers it down a fast detour into The Crack Zone, not to be confused with the Twilight Zone.

Perhaps bold text might be an easy way to distinguish between actual quotes and Teh Crack.

Well, Team Dragon answered that call, and we posted a selection of their offerings yesterday.

However, Team Phoenix, having some very motivated people in their rosters, have decided to provide their Bloopers/Scenes in a unique format. Under this cut, you will not just find text, my friends. You will find video. (caution to dial-up users)

Today we present to you:

TEAM PHOENIX'S FIC BLOOPERS!

Thank you, Team Phoenix! Stay tuned, there are more of these to come! Plus more treats from Team Dragon!

TEAM DRAGON BLOOPERS & MISSING SCENES!
Welcome, Friends!

Today we have a special treat for you. A few months ago, while all the authors were typing away, Team Phoenix issued a quiet challenge to Team Dragon. It went a little like this:

Simple. The author quotes an excerpt from their own story and then steers it down a fast detour into The Crack Zone, not to be confused with the Twilight Zone.

Perhaps bold text might be an easy way to distinguish between actual quotes and Teh Crack.

Well, Team Dragon answered that call. Both teams had authors who took the bloopers a step further, instead writing 'missing/deleted scenes' from their fics to wow us all. Hee.

Today we present to you:

TEAM DRAGON'S FIC BLOOPERS!

Team Dragon's Missing Scenes/Bloopers )

Thank you, Team Dragon!!

Stay tuned for more bloopers, featuring Team Phoenix, as well as other suprises!

Master List
The 2008 Winter Author [info]snarry_games are nearly over. We have just posted the last of a Grand Total of 70 Snarry Fic entries. We are always very happy and awed by the overwhelming response and support of this project, and would like to thank everyone who has been involved. The mods, the Champions, the voters and judges, the reviewers and reporters, the affiliates. Thank you all!

We now move into our final voting phase. We will be giving everyone until mid Sunday, June 8, to finish their voting. The polls will remain open until that time, and then will be closed to enable the Mods to begin the counting process. You can also take this time to edit your votes, if necessary. It is easy to edit your poll: you can change your answer by clicking on the poll #, and then clicking the [ Fill-out Poll ] link at the top. Don't forget to click on "submit poll" after you've changed your answers.

Under the cut, you will find the Master List of all the submissions to help guide you to the entries that you may have missed during this 7 week flurry of Snarry.

Do not think the community will be idle, there will be special treats coming up for you. We were unable to organise our usual closing Games Drabbles this year, but both Team Phoenix and Team Dragon have some great treats for you, including a Blooper/Missing scene challenge!

And now, we leave you with:

THE 2008 WINTER SNARRY GAMES MASTER LIST )

Feel free to pimp your favourite author or team this week while the voting remains open! Enjoy.

Further elements were taken from Gypsy Law: Romani Legal Traditions and Culture, A Handbook of Vlax Romani, and the various writings of St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine.
