Severus made tea and brooded.

Potter hadn't been back. Severus could have sworn he'd follow up that kiss; Harry had realised his weakness and would exploit it. But Harry hadn't returned.

Severus didn't want him to.

And yet… didn't the kitchen seem a little gloomy? A little quiet?

Certainly not! Severus liked his solitude and independence. He didn't like noisy brats in his house… didn't miss him.

He looked over at the exotic flowers, past their best now. Too old to use in potions. How foolish, to waste them. Why had he put them in a vase?

Severus brooded some more.
