Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Week Three/Audrey
WHO: Audrey, Dee, & OPEN
WHAT: Audrey needed a place to study and so she retreats to the cafe
WHEN: Monday, around 4:30 pm
WHERE: Cafe Lunaire
RATING: TBD

It wasn't the fact that she needed peace and quiet to study in. As a matter of fact, peace and quiet is what Audrey Davis had in her home, which was (at the moment) severely lacking in people...besides, of course, herself. With her brother Adam away at college and both parents away at work still, Audrey found herself in the very picture of a calm, quiet, and relaxed environment...an environment most would find extremely optimal for studying in. And under most circumstances, Audrey would have agreed. But not today. Today, there was something unsettling about the stillness and quiet of her house. Try as she might, Audrey could simply not concentrate on her homework. As fifteen minutes passed and Audrey still had made little to no progress on her homework, the young woman quickly became annoyed. Deciding that something would have to be done about this, it only took her five minutes to pack up her things, grab her keys, and head for her car.

The drive to Cafe Lunaire wasn't too awfully long, as Auds only lived a few miles away. Within minutes, she had pulled her blue car into the parking lot and making her way into the familiar cafe. As soon as she pushed the door open and entered the building, the aroma of coffee and the sounds of a cafe hit her. Slowly, a smile crept across her face. Choosing an empty table near the center of the cafe, Audrey set her backpack and books down before hurrying off toward the counter. Being a creature of habit, Audrey wasn't necessarily the type of person to suddenly try new things...drinks included. Tucking strands of copper hair behind her ears, Audrey placed her order politely with the cafe worker on duty ("A vanilla latte, please.") Waiting patiently (and stealing a glance over at her things, to make sure that they were still there) for her drink, it was only a few minutes before girl and latte were united at last. Offering up her cash, Audrey dropped a few spare coins in the tip jar and was off on her way.

Returning to her seat (carefully holding her vanilla latte), Audrey cautiously set the drink down onto the table in front of her before sitting down herself. Now she was ready for work. Unzipping her backpack and extracting a notebook and pencil, the St. Marina senior placed them neatly in front of her. Returning her bag to the vacant seat next to her, she now began to sift through the pages of a rather thick looking textbook before finally coming to stop on a page filled with text and very, very few pictures. Gracefully (or at least as gracefully as she possibly could), Audrey bent her body closer to her work as she began to write key words and important pieces of text down in her notebook. Only pausing to take a sip from her latte, it was only a matter of mere seconds before Auds was completely caught up in her homework; totally tuning the world of the cafe out around her. This is what she needed, and she was terribly happy that she had finally achieved it.

Last week had been the biggest life changing experience for Adenah ever, and only two other people besides herself knew about it, so far. She was Sailor Mars, Natsumi was Sailor Venus. But they were still missing Jupiter and Mercury on the inner scouts, and their Princess, Sailor Moon. Not to mention, the Outer Scouts, though Adenah was less worried about that. Every night this week she had been dreaming of her past lives, it was almost to the point where she felt like she was three different people in one body. In a sense, she was. She had power, and suddenly, all the strange 'feelings' she had always picked up on made sense, and she knew why she got them. This week, she fully planned on trying to master fire reading, though that would take time, and more control of her power.

Adenah pushed open the door of her mothers dance studio, chatting away happily on her side kick to her brother back in England, acting like the same old Adenah that he knew and loved to bother. When she stepped outside into the sun, her eyes locked onto a tree in the parking lot. "Hey, squirt, I need to go. I'll call you tomorrow, yea? Say hi to Dad for me." and with that she hung up, eyes still on the tree. Sitting there were two black crows. The same black crows that had been there since she first arrived, the ones that had followed her to and from school, and the ones that had perched on her balcony in the morning, and refused to move even when she tired to shoo them away. They had done that every morning for the past three days. And as of last night, she finally knew why. They were her protectors, she had them in her past life too. But the idea of two crows following her around was weird, and she didn't know if they had been this intense in her last life.

Sighing, Adenah went to her red convertible and threw her dance bag into the back seat. A few seconds later and she was pulling out of the drive way and making her way to her favorite spot, Cafe Lunaire. Her mothers dance studio wasn't far from the Cafe, so after she made her way through the parking lot security, it was only a matter of minutes before she was pulling into a parking spot, and headed toward the doors. Heals clicking on the pavement, she slid off her sun glasses once she was under the shade of the building, and then pushed the door open, a little bell ringing to announce her entrance.

Dee went right to the counter, and placed her older (Chai Tea) and a Fruit Explosion muffin. She leaned against the counter, examining her nails as she waited, the buzz of the building drowned out by her thoughts. Returning back to the fact that she was a warrior, she had powers. She fought evil. She stood for love, and passion. It seemed kind of corny, in a way, but she took it so seriously already. She had talked a little with Natsumi, and Dee felt close to the girl already, simply because of what they had been though, though she still had a way to grow as a team.

Once her order was up, she paid, tipped, and then turned to look around. And her eyes fell on Audrey. Audrey.

Audrey had been having 'weird vibes' to. Just knowing something was wrong. They had spoken about this, before Adenah knew what was going on with her. Could Audrey be a scout too? Maybe she was Jupiter or Mercury! Maybe? She had to find out, but she couldn't come right out and ask. Placing a smile on her face, Adenah picked up her plate and cup, and moved toward Audrey's table, setting her them down in front of an empty chair. She put her purse on the floor where her feet would be, and then took a seat. "Well look at you, being all productive." homework, right, she needed to do that. Grinning, Audrey made herself comfortable. "How've you been?

Minutes passed and Audrey had finally collected all the key phrases and notes that she needed to begin her essay. And yes, if you were wondering, Audrey is the only American student to take notes before actually starting on her essay...yet the hardest part hadn't even begun yet. This was the hard part: coming up with a good name for the essay. It shouldn't be so bland that it's apparent to the teacher that there isn't a single ounce of creativity within the student...but it also shouldn't be so outlandish that the student appears to be in a different world completely. It needed a title that was both official and intelligent sounding; maybe something you might even find in a college library. Audrey Davis was probably the only student in the entire world who placed so much importance on the title of her essays and anything less than perfection wouldn't do for the little overachiever. Resting her head upon her propped-up palm, Auds sighed and drummed her pencil in a steady motion against her notebook. She pursed her lips, pressing them together as her brown knit together in thought. Why was this so hard? With the way things were going, it was going to take her longer to think of a title she actually liked as opposed to actually writing the damn thing! Her eyes drifted from the blank sheet of notebook paper to the articles and textbooks in front of her. A few seconds passed and still nothing came to her. Sighing, Audrey reached forward and took a sip of her vanilla latte...and that's when it hit her: the absolute, without a doubt, best title for her essay! Practically dropped her latte in an effort to quickly get her title idea translated down onto her paper, the girl scrawled the title with surprising neatness across the first line of the notebook paper, not bothering to add the compulsory "by Audrey Davis" on the line underneath...that would simply take up too much room, leaving her no where to transcribe the rest of her essay ideas! With that done, she was finally ready to actually start the essay!

Though the bell chimed Dee's arrival to the cafe, Audrey didn't look up. Already a few, strong minutes into her essay with the title already picked out, and she was already finding that it was much easier to work with the sounds of Cafe Lunaire going on in the background. She only allowed herself to become unfocused in order to reach up for a sip of her latte before diving right back into her essay writing. Now that she was on a roll, she didn't want to lose it...there was a trick her English teacher had taught her back in tenth grade: if you just keep talking and writing about one subject in the paper, eventually more things to write about would pop up. Since then, it had always worked for Audrey while also increasing the length of her essays; something teachers seemed to admire and smile-upon. Now that Audrey had found something worth writing about in her paper, she wanted to keep writing, in fear that she might lose her train of thought and then become hopelessly stuck on the first paragraph...despite the fact that she was now more than halfway down the page and already finishing up with her second, strong paragraph. Every once and a while, her sea-colored eyes jumped up to a book or article she had spread in front of her; reading over it quickly before paraphrasing the main idea of whatever she had read into her own essay. A few minutes later and Audrey was beginning her fourth paragraph...almost completely done with the first page. If things continued in this way, the St. Marina's senior would be done with her homework in no time flat; maybe even gaining a few extra minutes for some free time before having to head back home to greet her family from their long day of work.

Jumping slightly (she had been too engrossed in her homework and as a result, hadn't seen Adenah approach her) as Dee set her things down and joined her, Auds was certainly relieved to see the face of a close friend at her table. She shot Dee a knowing smirk at the productive comment. Auds was just one of those kids who always did their school work; the thought of a missing or late assignment physically made those kinds of students sick. Assign them a research paper due in a month and it would be flawlessly finished within a week. That was Audrey...responsible with schoolwork to a fault. "Yeah, well, if you can believe it, I was getting nothing done at home...so I figured coming here might help me along. Surprise, surprise, it actually did help..." Audrey held up her notebook to show that within the short span of her time being at the cafe, she had almost completely filled the first page of crisp notebook paper. Placing her notebook back down on the table gently, Auds scooted a few of her books and papers around to give Dee as much room as possible; she didn't want to crowd the girl out after all.

"How've I been?" Audrey repeated the question back to Adenah softly. Had the two girls been normal, everyday teenagers who didn't experience air turning to flames in front of them or didn't hear a tempest raging in their bedroom and then smell saltwater afterward, the question could have been considered normal. And honestly, Audrey wasn't sure how to interpret it...was Dee just asking in the regular sense...just wanting to know how a friend was doing lately? Or was it something more...wanting to know if something else weird had happened. The girls hadn't discussed the incidents of what had happened in their bedrooms the night the theater was destroyed for a few days now...maybe something else had happened to Dee since then? "I've been alright," Audrey chose to answer it normally at first, but after a slight pause of hesitation, she went on. "Everything's been...fairly normal, I guess. No more seawater, at least." At this point, she gave a little 'pfft' noise accompanied by the rolling of her eyes before continuing. "I just keep having these weird... I don't know... deja vu sort of feelings, you know? But I guess deja vu isn't too weird... everyone gets it." But deja vu wasn't exactly the right word to use in this sense. True, it came closer to explaining the thoughts and memories that Audrey was experiencing at the moment, but she had always thought that when you had deja vu, you experienced something that had happened already...which she wasn't. She was have these reoccurring thoughts with people she'd never seen before, yet she felt that she knew them. It was weird and honestly, she couldn't even begin to explain it. Shifting slightly in her seat, Audrey tilted her head to the side before quietly venturing on. "What about you?"

She couldn't help but laugh as she relaxed in her seat, leaning back a little. "Easy." she said when Audrey jumped. Though it was probably Adenah's fault for not making a less abrupt entrance. She had just sort of sat, quite quickly too. It amazed her how much Audrey could work, just how good she was at it. Maybe she could be that good, but she wasn't, not at school. No, she knew how to work as hard as Audrey, but it was at dance. She but every bit of effort into it, and she usually came out on top because of it. She could concentrate on dancing like Audrey could on work. That much time and detail always went into her practices and into any competitions, videos, or projects she ever had going that involved dance. Except now she had one more thing that had to come first, that had to come before her dance. Apparently the whole entire world had to come first, her duty as a Soldier was top priority. She still didn't know what she thought about that. Was it just a dream, or a joke? But every time she looked at her left arm and saw the watch that was now her transformation tool, she was reminded that, no, it was not a dream.

Dee looked around the busy cafe, a bit of a surprised look on her face. Audrey could actually concentrate here? "And here I thought I was the only one who could concentrate in an environment like this." she said bemused. Adenah always had music, or noise going where ever she worked. People wondered how it was she managed to get work done with so much distraction. To her, silence was a distraction, because any little noise, like a pipe dripping, or the house creaking, or a car driving by was annoying. Lots of noise just blended into the background and she could ignore it. Maybe her mind was just warped, but it worked for her. "What's the essay on?" yeah, she should really do some homework. Dee was the kind of person who usually waited to the last minute to do work. She needed some pressure to get it done, but she always did get it done in the end. Which was more than what some people could say. That, and she had to keep up her grades if she wanted to dance. That was motivation enough for the young European.

Nodding when she repeated the question, she hadn't really expected that kind of answer. Mostly she was just expecting a 'good' or 'stressed' kind of thing. But this actually worked quite well to her advantage, she didn't have to bring the topic up carefully. Audrey had done that quite nicely for her, so she was just going to go with it. Yes, running with it made the most sense, therefor she didn't really have to pry that much and look suspicious. A small frown crossed her mouth for a split second before she got rid of it. Nothing at all except the really odd feelings. No more sea water...but the feelings. Adenah had seen fire, and then became the Soldier of Flame...there just had to be some connection between Audrey and the sea water. "Nothing?" she asked, maybe a little too hopefully. "Like...no run ins with strange people or things you can't explain?" she blinked for a moment, realizing that maybe she sounded to serious, and then added, just to not sound weird. "No alien encounters or abductions?" she cracked a smile, trying to keep it light while looking for info. Maybe Audrey had changed, but was keeping it a secret.

She looked to Audrey's wrist, trying to see if there was a watch similar to the one displayed on her arm, and the one on Natsumi's. She didn't look too long before she simply shook her head, and lifted her tea cup to her lips to take a sip. "No, not strange happenings that I can't explain." she said with a sigh. Sure, there were strange happenings, but she could now explain them. They all made sense, as messed up as they were. Or they all made sense now, the fire, the times she knew when things were just wrong. It was all because of who she once was. She felt bad, not telling Audrey. She felt like she at least owed her the truth. But Adenah knew she couldn't tell. Scouts should only tell who they are to other scouts. It seemed Audrey wasn't one. But she just had to be, it only made sense. I mean, if she saw fire and then turned out to be a scout, wasn't what Audrey went though almost the same thing, just a different element? Maybe she was Mercury...it could happen, couldn't it? Maybe she was just hiding it.

Outside, a crow screamed, rather loudly, and landed right in front of the window of the cafe, followed by another one. Her eyes flicked to the window, cursing the crows for a moment. Could they be any more attention drawing? They hadn't left her alone since the last week. She didn't know what to make of it. A few heads in the care turned to look at the odd birds staring in the window, some of them pointing. Pretending not to notice, she went to pick at her muffin with a sigh. "Same feelings I guess, but I've had those all my life. I wouldn't expect them to change now." it would seem more odd if the sense just sort of up and left. The birds shut up, but continued to stare in the window. Life would be so much easier if she actually spoke crow. She had to be going insane. Two weeks ago life was totally normal, except for the theater being destroyed. Now she was a Soldier, had an identity to keep secret, had to keep the planet safe and had crows following her around like she was going to be shot at any second. America, this never would have happened in England.

Sometimes she got so into her work-too into her work-and just forgot about the world around her...much like what had just happened. It wasn't that school and homework were so important to her...they really weren't, not really. The only reason she even put up with putting in all the effort of writing perfect papers and doing perfect on all of her tests and quizzes was simply because of the grades she was getting. But of course, isn't that why everyone completed their school tasks? Nevertheless, with the good grades came praise from her parents and recognition amongst her peers as someone who was responsible, dependable, and most importantly intelligent. In the end, if at least one person looked at Audrey and thought that she was smart, it was all worth it. And so long as she kept bringing in the good grades, the girl was going to put in all of her effort to turning in her homework on time and with the perfect, spot-on answers. There was really only one thing that took precedence above doing well in school...and that was theatre. Drama was a major aspect of Audrey's life; she lived to perform on the stage. In a roundabout way, perhaps her compulsive homework needs truly stemmed from acting at St. Marina's: if she didn't keep up the good grades, she wouldn't be eligible to participate in the school plays, which would be complete hell for her. Maybe that's why he kept up she kept up the good grades and worked so hard after all?

Auds snickered slightly, taking a slow glance around the cafe. Now that school was out, teenagers flocked to the cafe for after school drinks and a place to hang out. It was steadily growing more and more crowded within the Cafe, and it seemed that for every one person that left, three more people entered. The sounds of people chatting overly loud, coffee machines brewing coffee and the occasional ding of the cash register all blended together to create for one rather loud environment; one that you would typically not find students trying to concentrate on homework in. "I guess so. It's so quiet at my house...I just had to get out and come somewhere where there was..." The copper haired girl looked up, as if trying to pull the words she was searching for out of the sky, before finally focusing her gaze back on Dee and continuing. "...More going on, I guess?" Audrey laughed at the ridiculousness of what she had just said with a slight shrug of her shoulders.

The way that Adenah had said 'nothing' made Audrey slightly confused. She didn't say it as if she were relieved or anything like that...she said it almost as if she were somehow...let down? Shouldn't Dee be happy for her: she wasn't going crazy after all...maybe? And what was she going on about strange run-ins with weird people? Auds blinked, slightly taken aback by how her friend's whole demeanor had suddenly changed. "Well... I ran into that weird guy who works at the arcade the other day, but I hardly think that has anything to do with...you know...the stuff that's been going on with us." Besides her little run in with him, Audrey really couldn't think of any other weird people she had run into lately...what was Dee going on about? Audrey was trying to piece things together when suddenly Dee cracked a smile and said something about alien abductions...she had been kidding the entire time. "Dee!" Audrey laughed and leaned across the table to playfully nudge her friend's shoulder. "Don't do that to me! You had me worried that something else had happened to you!"

"No more fire then?" Audrey spoke a bit quieter, tilting her head politely as Adenah lowered her tea cup. And that's when she noticed it: the watch around Dee's wrist. Of course, she had never seen this watch before...or any watch like it for that matter. Yet somehow, it was oddly familiar to her. Audrey could have stared a hole through the thing and still she wouldn't have taken her eyes off of it. Almost in a trance like state, Audrey reached across the table, heading for Dee's watch-wearing wrist, when she suddenly stopped herself halfway across the table...what was she doing? How rude would it have been for her to just take Dee's wrist and start examining her watch?! Trying to backpedal and play it off as best as she could, Audrey cleared her throat with a slight cough and instead pointed at the watch around Dee's wrist. "Did you get a new watch?" She tore her eyes away from the watch for a moment to glance at Adenah before locking her eyes once more on that watch...she wanted to know everything that she possibly could, or at least everything that Adenah was willing to tell her, about it.

And once again, Auds found herself startled and jumping once again...but not because of something Dee did. Rather, it was the sound of a screeching crow. Like several of the other cafe patrons, Audrey jerked her head in the direction that the scream came from and there she found a crow (quickly followed by another) perched outside of the cafe, staring inward. And if she wasn't mistaken, she was quite certain they were looking at Adenah. But then again, what did Audrey know? They were just birds, there was nothing special about them. Once they had quieted down, Audrey slowly turned her head back toward Dee, smiling softly as she did so. "I suppose you're right. I just wonder what it all means, you know?" The girl furrowed her brow and propped her elbow up on the table, resting her head in the palm of her hand. "It would be nice to know if other people were experiencing the weird stuff we are. I mean...I guess we haven't really had another incident like the one a few weeks ago... You with the fire and me with the sea water, I mean. But still. I really can't shake the feeling that there's something really important I'm forgetting or getting this feeling when something bad's about to happen." She let her eyes fall to the table momentarily, chewing idly upon her lower lip. "Maybe I'm just going crazy." With this said, Audrey lifted her eyes again and offered a soft smile.

She could understand the need to have more going on when you did work. It was what she needed too, even if not everyone agreed. "Yeah, I know what you mean. I need more going on too." She liked the noise, it was less of a distraction than the quiet was, if that made any sense what so ever. She looked around the cafe was well, taking in the faces around them. Many of them she knew, and catching the eye of a few people she waved. From the dance team, the drama department, her classes, whatever, Adenah knew a lot of people from her one year at the school. Finally she brought her eyes back to Audrey. She was one of the people she was most close to in her one year here, and Dee was fairly sure she had the drama department to thank for that. It was eating at her, the fact that she couldn't tell her what was going on. She'd love to...just...maybe she would be able to later, if her theory was true. There were only two scouts found that she knew of, maybe it just wasn't her friends time yet.

Weird guy? Well, they were everywhere. That was nothing new, there was more in California than probably any other state in this country. They couldn't be avoided. A tiny smile came to her face when Audrey nudged her. She was only half joking, but she couldn't let Audrey know that. She couldn't help but feel just a little disappointed when it seemed that Audrey had not had the same experience as her. Not yes anyway. Dee nudged her back with her foot under the table, smiling, but it did not quite reach her eyes. "Well, I had to ask. Just in case I had to call Mulder and Scully on you." she said, now trying to keep the tone light. It seemed that no, Auds was not a Scout, and maybe she never would be. There wasn't much she could do about that. "Just be sure to tell me if the mother ship touches down in your front yard." again, she was only half joking. It wasn't the mother ship, but hey, it might as well have been. She was Mars, a whole other planet.

"There has been no fire randomly exploding in front of me." just fire that she wanted to explode...from her. It wasn't a lie, not really. She had full control over the fire that was around her now. And determined to learn more, to be as strong as she had once been before, in another life. "I swear I'm not a-" she blinked when Audrey started spacing. Following her eyes, it landed on her watching. Tensing, she watched as Auds started to reach toward it. She didn't move for a second, waiting to see what would happen. When she pulled away, she bit back a sigh of relief. Dee was just figuring out a few things about this watch, she didn't want Audrey pressing a button that could give her a way. "Yeah." she said with a nod. "This new girl at school, Natsumi went shopping the other day, we got new watches." which would cover why they both had the same watches, she would just have to check that story with Natsumi next time she saw her. She was probably going to be spending a lot of time with the girl anyway, so they should probably start coming up with excuses. They had an enemy to fight, after all, even if they didn't know who it was.

She bit her lip when the crows made Audrey jump, wondering if it would be unethical of her to totally pluck their feathers later. She shifted in her seat, doing her best to act as if she had no idea why birds were acting crazy. Dee just shrugged, the image of someone totally as lost as Audrey. "I have no idea." she said with a sigh. I wish I did know who else had these weird happenings. I would maybe be a hint to who they were looking for. Though that wasn't really her job, was it? She wasn't sure. This whole thing was so new. Dee blinked, Audrey's words giving her a small bit of hope that maybe...just maybe, she wasn't wrong about her. But apparently, it was to early to make that call. She wouldn't know just yet. Maybe it would be a few hours, days, weeks. She didn't know. How did you test someone for this thing? It wasn't something she was good at.

"I doubt you're crazy." she said with a shake of her head. "It was far to real for both of us to be going insane, I think." She took another sip of her tea, and then picked at her muffing again, placing a bite of it in her mouth and swallowing before she continued. "Trust your instincts, yeah? Maybe you're not as off as you think?" she asked arching an eyebrow. "You never know." she said with a shrug, trying not to come off as someone just weird, like someone who knew something. But she couldn't help it, maybe hint something. If anything did happen within the next few days, Audrey would hopefully remember, and maybe find Dee later, if she remembered, and this all made sense then. Leaning forward, she placed her arms on the table, folding her hands in front of her. "Besides, we need you for the play this year, you can't crack on us now."

"If Mulder and Scully show up at my front door, we're going to have problems, my dear!" Audrey widened her eyes at this statement and tried her hardest to hold back the smile that was twitching to break free in the corners of her lips. "I'll know it was you who called them and then I'll be sure to send them to your house as soon as they're done...freaking me out or whatever it is that they do!" Audrey had, admittedly, never watched many episodes of The X Files, but everyone knew who the famous duo from the show were and what they did (sort of.) At the comment about the mother ship, Audrey tossed back her head and laughed out loud (not even trying to contain her laughter this time), causing a few heads to turn in their direction. "I have a feeling that if and when the mother ship touches down in my front yard, I won't have to tell you to let you know it happened." Audrey partly spoke in jest, while a little bit of her spoke out of pure truth. Both girls saw just how quickly the whole town of Alameda reacted to the theater being blown to bits mysterious...if some intergalactic space ship touched down in her front yard, it would be a miracle if the whole town didn't know within a few seconds. "However... I'll do my best to make sure that you're the first one to know." Audrey lifted her cup of vanilla latte to her lips, winking across the table at her friend as she did so.

Auds nodded her head slowly as Dee told her that she hadn't experienced any random bursts of fire. That was more than likely a good sign...at least it significantly diminished Audrey's worries that Dee might actually spontaneously combust. "Well...that's good to hear. You might have started the house on fire or something and then when the fire department came, you'd have to explain how fire just appeared in front of you. Good luck getting them believe that." Audrey snickered lightly before, once again, turning her attention back onto Dee's watch. Again, she felt drawn to it...though she forced herself to keep from reaching out and trying to touch it again...though the task of keeping herself from staring at it too awfully much seemed practically impossible. "Oh... Well, it's really pretty." So she had got it while out shopping? Maybe that's where she'd seen it...just at some store. But still, why was she so drawn to it? Pulling her eyes away from the watch, she met Adenah's gaze. "Natsumi? You mean the girl from Japan?" Audrey tilted her head to the side, folding her arms across the table. "I think I've seen her in the halls...she seems really nice."

Taking a look out of the window simply by chance, Auds noticed that the crows were still there and still staring through the window. It appeared as though they were still staring intently at Dee, but again, what did Audrey know? Only slightly weirded out by the fact that the crows were still there, Audrey took a quick sip from her latte before shrugging her shoulders lightly. "Well...maybe there's someone else out there. I mean, we can't be the only ones to experience stuff like this, right? I mean...logistically speaking, there have to be more people out there." The St. Marina's senior stared down at her drink, sitting in silence before flipping a few strands of hair over her shoulder and smiling back up at her friend. "I just wish I could find more information about it. I would go around asking people, but I figure that most are too afraid to admit that they had something...completely weird happen to them in the middle of the night that they can't explain. They might feel crazy or something."

She smiled, terribly thankful that Adenah didn't think that she was crazy. Had she told anyone else that she woke up in the middle of the night to the sounds of a raging sea storm and the smell of seawater lingering in her room, they probably would have tried to have her committed to some mental institution. "I don't know what this unseen force is trying to tell me with all this seawater and stuff." Audrey rolled her eyes and snickered at this thought. Perhaps it all had been part of a dream...but then what about Adenah? Had she been dreaming when she saw the fire explode in front of her face that night too? "Oh, right, well...you know, if I get locked up in some loony bin, maybe I'll be aloud out just long enough for play practice and then the actual play. Of course, I think my costume options might be limited to a straight jacket." Audrey giggled and wrinkled her nose at this thought. Half of the fun of being in plays was actually the costuming and wearing so many different, fabulous clothes. To be honest, the idea of having to wear a straight jacket through and entire play (without it being in character or part of the play, of course) upset her more than the actual thought of having to be committed.

"We may have problems, but you'd have to catch me to get back at me!" she informed her friend with a laugh. And Dee was fast. Maybe not track star, but her years of running to stay in shape for dance kept her going at a pretty fast pace. "If they showed up at my door, I'd sick Abby and Gonza on them." her Black Labs weren't vicious at all, but they did like to play, and could probably chase people for hours if they wanted to. Mostly they'd probably just lick them to death, but that was besides the point. It would Adenah time to leave, because who wanted to deal with television characters come to life? "True, I'd probably hear from the neighbors first, or the radio." her neighbors were vicious gossipers, the woman to their left lived for rumors. She'd probably have no trouble calling them all the early hours of the morning for just about any juicy news. "Good." she said with a grin, "You can call me at whatever time, for something like that." she said still laughing, though truth be told she was being totally serious.

She had a point, but Adneah knew now that the fire she had seen would never have actually burnt down her house. "I'll blame it all on Gonza knocking over a candle or something." she said with a shrug. Gonza was the crazy one of the two, hence the slightly odd name. The name didn't make sense until you met the dog. She looked down at her watch again, replaying in her mind the exact moment she had received the watch, and what had happened when she did. "Thanks, Natsumi just found them, and we both decided we wanted one." it was a pretty watch, and it looked rather high tech, which it was, but no one needed to know that. The communicator in them that allowed her to talk to Natsumi easily was also very handy. "And yea, she transferred in not too long ago. She's really sweet, worth getting to know. And she has the most adorable wardrobe ever." Adenah said with a bit of a jealous sigh. Adenah had never actually seen the other girls closet, but she had seen many of Natsumi's outfits, and wished she owned them all. She really needed to do some shopping in Japan, if she could convince her parents to vacation there.

Dee finally turned to look at the window, her heart fluttering slightly. They were staring at her. Go act like crows! she thought furiously, though she knew they couldn't hear her. It must have been something in the look she gave them, but all of a sudden they both hopped and turned on the spot, and then took off from the ground, only to land again in a tree that was part of the sidewalk outside the cafe. Well...that was better than nothing anyway. Shaking her head slightly, she turned to look back at Audrey with a smile. "Weird birds." she commented lightly, before addressing what she was saying. "Logically speaking, yea, you're right. But people aren't going to step up and start talking about it." at least not with anyone who they didn't trust. It would make her job so much easier if they did. One thing was for sure, Adenah was going to have to keep an eye on Audrey. "Well, with the way society is today, you can understand why people would be like that. They would think they're crazy, or most of them anyway. I don't think you've gone off the deep end, and there's got to be some people who think that too. Cheer up luv, you aren't going mad."

"Maybe it's telling you you're destined to be a Sailor?" she said lightly. Only Audrey wouldn't catch the double meaning. She'd think Adenah meant a sailor of a ship, out on sea water. Dee on the other hand, while she originally meant the first idea, caught the double meaning. Cracking a grin, she added. "Fishing for a living!" laughing she slumped back in her chair. "Though the day you choose to do that, is the day I give up dance." she said still laughing. Becoming more serious again she fixed her posture, though remained leaning back. The seriousness didn't last as she pictured Audrey in a straight jacket and another grin cracked. "You in a straight jacket, during a play that didn't involve crazy people? You'd be devastated." she teased, taking another sip of her tea, and trying not to laugh so she could get the hot liquid down her throat.

Adenah could understand though, when you were involved in something where you preformed for people, you just needed to have a cute outfit, or it wasn't worth it. The clothes helped you get in the right mood, and made it more fun. When she was in music videos, she always got more pumped up about it all when she had a really awesome outfit to dance in. When she was in the school play, some of her favorite parts were the costume and make up sections. Becoming someone you weren't, even for a little while, made life more fun.

"Please! Like sicking Gonza and Abby on them is fair!" Audrey protested, making a slight scoffing noise and allowing her mouth to hang open in mock-distress. "I don't believe that I have any dogs, whether they're dangerous or not, to sick upon...freaky television characters that show up at my door! I demand to borrow at least one of your dogs, should Mulder and Scully decide to invade my home." The high schooler snickered and sat back in her chair, folding her arms across her chest in defiance. Dee was completely right about hearing about the incident either through neighbors or the radio first...news (or rather gossip) seemed to spread like wild fire through Alameda; there was simply no stopping it. Truth be told, if a space ship were to land in Audrey's front yard, it would be an act of God if Dee were actually the first one to know. "I'll be sure to keep my phone with me at all times so that as soon as it happens, I can act as fast as possible and be absolutely prepared!"

"Oh, well, that's actually a good idea!" It hadn't occurred to Audrey that Dee could easily blame any house fires upon Gonza knocking over a stray candle. "I wish I had an insane pet to blame...house floods or something on." Audrey rolled her eyes in a teasing manner and sipped at her latte. "Well, either way, it's a pretty watch. You'll have to take me to the store where you guys found them...I might want one myself." In all honesty, Auds just wanted to find the source of the watches, as she was still feeling quite drawn to it. "Maybe I should introduce myself to her sometime? I've been meaning to do that...introduce myself, I mean." It was kind of Audrey's 'thing' to introduce herself to new students. Being a particularly friendly girl, she always felt rather poorly when she saw new students being shafted by native students. She therefore tended to go out of her way to introduce herself to the newer kids at school, making sure they felt as welcome as possible. "Oooh, cute wardrobe? I think I'll have to raid her closet myself, then!" Audrey raised her eyebrows enthusiastically and a large grin spread across her face. Though most people wouldn't peg Audrey as the type of girl to be into fashion, the truth of the matter was that she lived for it. From runway to ready-to-wear to knowing all of the elite designers, Auds was heavily involved with the fashion scene and all forms of it greatly interested her.

Audrey had, for the most part, not given the crows a second thought. Sure, she thought it was a bit weird how loud they could be...and how they seemed to stare continuously into the cafe at Dee. She glanced up at them from time to time but soon enough began to ignore them. It wasn't until the birds actually turned around and flew off (well, not completely off; just up into a tree a few feet away or so was more like it) that Audrey actually turned her attention back on to them. She hadn't followed their flight pattern, so the young woman had no idea that instead of leaving entirely, the birds had just retreated to the nearby tree...but still, she found the whole incident quite strange. "Yeah. Who knows? Maybe the birds are planning something with the aliens that destroyed the theater." Audrey snickered and tossed a few locks over her shoulder. However, her face took on a more serious look as the two began discuss the strange happenings that they had gone through so many nights ago, and how no one else seemed to be experiencing a thing. "True, true, true." Sighing, she couldn't help but grin as Dee called her 'luv'; she had always thought Adenah's British accent was cute, thinking it was particularly adorable when she spoke in Brit slang as well...'luv' being one of her favorite 'British-Dee words.'

A sailor? Well, to be honest, the idea of being out on the sea all the time didn't exactly displease her. However, the idea of being out on the sea, on a ship, doing hard work, and possibly even fishing didn't sound even like a little bit of fun to Audrey. Of course, she didn't pick up on the double meaning of what Dee meant; she had no idea that her friend meant that she could possibly be a sailor scout...it was completely lost on her. Wrinkling her nose in distaste, Auds tilted her head to the side slightly as she regarded the idea of becoming a sailor. "God, I hope not. I think I could live with being out on the sea or the ocean all the time... Like, you know, on some fabulous cruise ship, I suppose. But actually doing work and fishing while on the ocean? Nah, I think I'll pass." Audrey shook her redhead, giggling slightly as she did so. Making a slight cringing face at the thought of being on stage in a straight jacket when the play had nothing to do with insane asylums or anything of the like, Audrey again shook her head in distaste. "Devastated is quite an understatement. I don't think I'd be able to live with myself is more accurate!"
