Sometimes she got so into her work-too into her work-and just forgot about the world around her...much like what had just happened. It wasn't that school and homework were so important to her...they really weren't, not really. The only reason she even put up with putting in all the effort of writing perfect papers and doing perfect on all of her tests and quizzes was simply because of the grades she was getting. But of course, isn't that why everyone completed their school tasks? Nevertheless, with the good grades came praise from her parents and recognition amongst her peers as someone who was responsible, dependable, and most importantly intelligent. In the end, if at least one person looked at Audrey and thought that she was smart, it was all worth it. And so long as she kept bringing in the good grades, the girl was going to put in all of her effort to turning in her homework on time and with the perfect, spot-on answers. There was really only one thing that took precedence above doing well in school...and that was theatre. Drama was a major aspect of Audrey's life; she lived to perform on the stage. In a roundabout way, perhaps her compulsive homework needs truly stemmed from acting at St. Marina's: if she didn't keep up the good grades, she wouldn't be eligible to participate in the school plays, which would be complete hell for her. Maybe that's why he kept up she kept up the good grades and worked so hard after all?
Auds snickered slightly, taking a slow glance around the cafe. Now that school was out, teenagers flocked to the cafe for after school drinks and a place to hang out. It was steadily growing more and more crowded within the Cafe, and it seemed that for every one person that left, three more people entered. The sounds of people chatting overly loud, coffee machines brewing coffee and the occasional ding of the cash register all blended together to create for one rather loud environment; one that you would typically not find students trying to concentrate on homework in. "I guess so. It's so quiet at my house...I just had to get out and come somewhere where there was..." The copper haired girl looked up, as if trying to pull the words she was searching for out of the sky, before finally focusing her gaze back on Dee and continuing. "...More going on, I guess?" Audrey laughed at the ridiculousness of what she had just said with a slight shrug of her shoulders.
The way that Adenah had said 'nothing' made Audrey slightly confused. She didn't say it as if she were relieved or anything like that...she said it almost as if she were somehow...let down? Shouldn't Dee be happy for her: she wasn't going crazy after all...maybe? And what was she going on about strange run-ins with weird people? Auds blinked, slightly taken aback by how her friend's whole demeanor had suddenly changed. "Well... I ran into that weird guy who works at the arcade the other day, but I hardly think that has anything to do with...you know...the stuff that's been going on with us." Besides her little run in with him, Audrey really couldn't think of any other weird people she had run into lately...what was Dee going on about? Audrey was trying to piece things together when suddenly Dee cracked a smile and said something about alien abductions...she had been kidding the entire time. "Dee!" Audrey laughed and leaned across the table to playfully nudge her friend's shoulder. "Don't do that to me! You had me worried that something else had happened to you!"
