A/N: Beorn is a shape-shifter from The Hobbit. When he changes from human-form, he takes the shape of a huge, lumbering bear. Living in the lonely lands between the Misty Mountains and Mirkwood, he is a somewhat reluctanct ally of Gandalf's. He is fiercely protective of those in his care, a formidable foe. His hatred of goblins (orcs) is legendary, as is his savage ferocity in battle.
This follows Remus' earlier adventure in Middle-earth, The Inhalations and Exhalations of Longing - Remus/Celeborn. No need to read "Inhalations and Exhalations" first.

"Thanks for looking after the place while I was gone."
"Did'ja have a good holiday, Mr Lupin?"
"Yes. It was lovely seeing the kids, Harry and Ginny. Good to be home, though," Remus said, looking past the pale stones burnished in the sunset, to the single black obilisk.
Waving a quick farewell, Remus walked briskly to the obilisk. Sitting himself on the edge of the grave, he leaned forward to gently trace the outline of the inscribed name with roughened fingertips.
"Hello, my love, I'm home. Missed you," he whispered, pressing his face to cold black stone.
"Always miss you."

The cold grey of the day, the sleet, the chill of winter winds, all made Lupin rush home, to the warmth and comfort he shared.

“I’m home”, he called, loud enough for his voice to carry to the potion’s room. “I’m wet and freezing-cold.”

Rushing upstairs, shedding his wet clothes, Lupin turned on the taps to fill the bath without delay.   He slid happily into the bath, immersing himself in the intoxicating blissful warmth.  Almost heaven, he thought, when his lover joined him in the bath, slipping naked to seat himself in front of him. Warmer than welcome wool jumpers.

A Taste of Melancholy

“I like these cold, gray winter days. Days like these let you savor a bad mood.”

Order business sent me to the tropics for months. Without you.

Summer was the time of rains; torrential downpours daily, falling in heavy sheets, not drops.

They called winter the “dry season”; each day was exactly like the next, bright blue cloudless sky, warm without being hot. Bliss at first, then I grew to loathe it.

I longed for grey winter days, cold searing through flesh, as harsh as your anger, as potent as your lust. I longed for pearly grey skies, luminescent, pellucid, purity in the fading light; a melancholic taste in the air. I longed for you, Severus.
