It's 2005, and the New Year has started off with a bang. There's a new group making itself known in the Wizaring World, sowing a new wave of fear and mistrust, opening up old wounds from a war everyone had hoped was over. The targets span all classes and levels of blood, Death Eaters, Ministry workers, and citizens alike.

They couldn't come at a worse time. A bear market and a pushy Prime Minister already has Wizarding England on edge. Advances in muggle technology threaten wizards as more and more of them are caught on camera. The wisdom of the Statute of Secrecy is being called to question for the first time in centuries.

Still, in the midst of all this, there are people just trying to get by. To live and laugh and love with their friends and family. No period can be perfectly peaceful and one must make the most of what quiet time they have. Especially those who realize their 'quiet time' is rapidly coming to an end ...

The 8th Floor is a DH-compliant, post-war game that takes a look at the interplay between the magical and muggle worlds and the myriad of problems something like the Statute of Secrecy could cause. We meld plot, politics, and social aspects into an intense gaming experience.

From Silence Came the Enemy


In 1945, Grindelwald combated Dumbledore for a second time in a legendary duel, said by eyewitnesses to be the greatest duel ever fought between wizards. Many assumed Dumbledore won in the end; unfortunately, when the dust settled and people began coming out of their homes they discovered a horrible truth. Grindelwald won the day leaving Albus Dumbledore to be locked away in Nurmengard as an example of what would happen to even the those in the United Kingdom for fighting his rule.


In A World Without Hope


n 1999 at the age of 116, Gellert Grindelwald died of Dragon Pox leaving Riddle to take the reins and through him another new era was born.

Under Tom Riddle, England began a new form of radical slogans. Still for the greater good, muggle borns who violated laws could be imprisoned for any length of time, some permanently. Muggle hunts were established to try and control the ‘population around them’, but only those of the upper classes were able to obtain the necessary documents. It seemed those within the Riddle circle had certain privileges that others did not.

By 2015, muggle born students were only allowed to carry wands that the Ministry provided to them, many unable to perform certain magic because they were spelled against it. For adults it was even worse, anyone caught trying to contact the outside muggle world was arrested and thrown in Azkaban which had been modified to mirror Nurmengard Prison and now Nurmengard was used for only the highest of priority cases.

The year is now 2030, muggle born’s have barely any rights, and once discovered they are taken from their parents and placed into the care of the Ministry who assigns a guardian to them. There is no contact with the muggle world and those that do, do so with a risk to their lives. Tom Riddle is the supreme leader and he will stop at nothing to see his own vision put to work. But beneath his nose a new generation of hero’s has begun to meet in secret. Could they finally be the ones to bring down this empire or are they destined to remain in this era of darkness and blood?

KEEP CALM AND PUT THE KETTLE ON.

For nearly three generations, the wizarding world has been under the control of one madman or another; first under Grindewald and then under Voldemort. By the end of the second war in 1998, the wizarding world is ready for peace. Witches and wizards watch in satisfaction as the purebloods and their allies are put on trial and sentenced, it feels like the closing of a century of violence. Once again, wizards are willing to pick up the pieces and move forward.

The long arduous task of recovery and rebuilding begins and the people elect Amos Diggory to the post of Minister by a landslide. They see a stable future in the promises of the man who lost his only son as one of the first casualties of the second war. He is charismatic and persuasive, using strongly worded speeches and cleverly hidden reminders about his son to secure his place in the Ministry.

It doesn’t happen overnight. The rebuilding and prosperity happen, slowly but surely. Every where someone looks, signs of a wizarding world in recovery is seen. New shoppes, new buildings, enormous growth. It comes with a price, more than anyone realizes because it happens slowly. A new law here, a tweak there. Soon, purebloods are being treated no better than slaves and the wands of everyone are being tracked magically by the Ministry. What began innocently enough has now taken the freedoms of witches and wizards. Curfews, tracking, bombings, and trials for those who dare to speak out..
