The Magic of Kings
In a time when the kings of England were second to none, a man called Henry VIII took six wives, incited a religious uprising, and ostracised England from the rest of Europe, all for the sake of having a son. That's not how it goes in our story though. In Henry's place is Sirius III, who at forty years old is at the height of his reign. With his brother, Regulus, being declared dead over two decades ago, he is under enormous pressure to produce a son and heir to secure the throne of England for the Blacks. He loves his wife, but at long last the Queen is no longer able to have children, causing a rift between them. All the while, several young ladies of the court seek his favour, and the lords, dukes, and earls who fill his council scheme to gain power for their families. Alliances are formed and broken in no time at all, and trust is a rare and precious thing amongst the court. Henry had six wives, and only half of them made it out alive. Watch your back. |
