 Libertas is an AU 7th year Trio game. What that means to you is that while you will be playing the characters that we all know and love from Harry Potter: In this game they have gone through a slightly different experience. It is our goal to combine canon with AU in a way that lets the game focus on character development outside the pressures of an impending war. Harry is still the 'boy who lived', but would he be the same if the weight of the wizarding world did not rest on his shoulders? The smallest change in history has infinite effects on the future. How are we different? Well, we will break it down year by year, but for now, let's look at the big picture. In 1981, a Lord Voldemort, bent on fulfilling prophesy, attacked Godric's Hollow. After killing James and Lily Potter, he turned his wand on young Harry, casting the Avada Kedavra that bounced back... ending the Dark Lord's rein of terror and forever changing Wizarding kind. In the years that followed, the Ministry of Magic did their best to track down and imprison any who were associated with Lord Voldemort. Some were excused as being victims of the Imperious curse. Some went to Azkaban. Some managed to escape and rebuild their lives. We all know this right? If JKR had ended there, it would be a sad world indeed. Thankfully she did not. But what if that had truly been the end of the war and the threat? How different would our choices be without death and destruction looming over our shoulders? There are still bloodists and dark witches and wizards. There are still muggleborns and honorable people. Harry Potter & Draco Malfoy are not likely going to be friends. Unless otherwise noted, canon still stands and what happened in the books has happened in your character's past. JKR barely mentions all but a handful of characters, but all of the students had lives, loves, hates, and a story of their own. There is a lot of room to really think about your characters and what makes them the people they are today. This is your chance to rewrite history, use it well.
