Why this author?  Her fic are incredibly dense - everything is intense and extremely well thought out and realistic and they just make you yearn for a happy resolution - a resolution that does not always come.  And even when it does?  It's often bittersweet and melancholic, and even when I know the ending isn't going to be one of the happy ones (I should know, I've read them all more than once), I still wish for it, anyway. 

Her fic are usually high on angst and drama, with extremely well rounded characters that grab you and just don't let go.  I really love to read her Jack O'Neill.  You'll see the crazy oaf that you see portrayed in canon and fic, but what I love seeing is the deadly, black ops Colonel that you know is in there, and only seems to comes out when needed.  You see a lot more of him in Komos' work, and that makes me happy, because you know he didn't get to where he is now by being a baffoon.

Oh, yeah, and she writes some of the most intense sexual situations I've ever read. 

She hasn't written that many fic, you can read them all in a fairly short time.  I'd recommend it.  She also recs a lot from her journal; it's worth keeping up with, she has good taste in fic.

Notes: This is an incredible story.  Beautifully written, incredibly detailed and the characters are so well drawn.  Jack is the ex-BlackOps Colonel that I love to read about.  Professional, hard-edged, strong but capable of caring and love - she's written him just the way I like him.  The way he and Daniel communicate with just a touch, a look, a lift of the eyebrow, fingers on a racing pulse, and everything is clear to them.  But not just beautiful - damn is it hot, too!  

If you haven't read this, you really should.  And don't be scared off by the fact that she says it's the beginning of a longer fic.  It's perfectly complete as is.  And once you've read it, you'll be glad she has more in mind.  You want to see more of these two.  You miss them when they're gone.  Sign of a good fic, in my book. 

The excerpt  bellow gives us a glimpse of  yet another side of Komos, her humor, and her excellent ear, capturing everyone's voices just as clearly as she does Jack's and Daniel's.  In the scene before this one, Jack has been taking out his anger on the innocent gym equipment, since the men who tortured Daniel are dead, and beyond his reach.  Then Teal'c shows up and helps him get rid of his aggressions.

Notes: Carter is kidnapped and shown in graphic detail exactly why she should not be loyal to General O'Neill or Stargate Command.  Excellent portrayal of Sam Carter.  She's a full, rounded character, with conflicting emotions, and an unwavering faith in her friends.  An intense fic, but well worth the read.  (For that matter, everything by paian is.)

Oh, yeah, and the sex is freakin' hot! The following excerpt gives you a taste of the scene in which Jack and Daniel have the most intense session of clothed frottage (without moving!) that I think I've ever read - ever.
