Notes: Mal needs to find a way to make it through Unification Day without starting a brawl.  Jayne proves to be just the distraction he's looking for.  I love the image of the black leather gloves Mal buys for Jayne - just a little bit of a kink, but fun.  It's hard to find good Mal/Jayne fic out there, and this is the second time I've rec'd a Eleanor K fic.  Hmm...maybe I need to start a category for Authors I Like To Rec?  It's a thought...

Notes: This fic is backstory - how Jayne ends up on Serenity, and the beginning of the relationship between Mal and Jayne.  It seems very much in character for both of them, with a great side plot of Wash and Zoe just becoming a couple, and Kaylee being her usual irrepressible self.  The whole thing just fits perfectly - if Mal and Jayne were canon, this could very easily be how it would have happened.  And it makes me smile.  There's just not enough Mal/Jayne fic out there.  :::stamps foot:::  Dammit.
