The days were a blur for Gunn. There was sentry duty that seemed to get longer every time he showed up for a shift. In his off time he spent it training and hanging out with Claire. Claire with her beautiful smile and her rock solid aim. She was the pro when it came to taking down zombies but Gunn had been teaching her some more hands on moves, combat against vampires or any other supernaturals or even humans who might try to harm her. He couldn't spend every minute with her even though he wished he could. He did try to crash at her cell when he could since sleeping next to Stefan still made him pretty uncomfortable.
Once upon a time Gunn had been a hoodrat with no future. He was even willing to sell his soul for a truck. But that had been a long time ago and now he was a grown ass man. Even in an apocalypse, he was thinking about the future. Because even an apocalypse wasn't that different than the world he was accustomed to. It just had worse food. And now being around Claire, seeing her every day. He thought about what his future might be like. Would he get married and have a couple kids? He would have said no way a few years ago but he wasn't getting any younger and he hadn't thought he would get any older but here he was.
There was still something bothering him though. It was something that Lilah had said to him about complicated demons laws in hell dimensions. Gunn used to be a regular resource for demon laws and any kind of laws really. She was dropping him a hint and while he didn't like the idea of being lead down any path by Lilah, he wanted to remember, to access that part of his brain that had been dormant for awhile. He'd sold Fred out for that information and now he could only access vague snippets and it was driving him crazy. Fred wasn't even getting a future and Gunn was reminded of it every time he laid his dark eyes on the blue meanie. He had to think of it. For her. But the more he tried, the more frustrated he became and the more fruitless the entire process became.
When he reached out to Angel to see if homeboy wanted to chill like back in the old school days Gunn was glad when he said yes. He needed to stretch his legs and get out of the prison for a little bit. Since the buddy system was still in tact, he had Angel meet him at the gates.
"Hey, bro," Gunn reached out and slapped Angel's hand before pulling the bigger man in for a manly hug. It had been too long. "It's good to see you." Now the only things missing were Cordelia and Wes and Lorne. No Harmony. He refused to say Harmony.
