Gunn was equipped with his own hubcap ax. Sure they had all kinds of fancy shit in the prison now between all the cops and alien technology that they had managed to put together but Gunn found himself more often than not, going back to his roots. Sometimes all you needed was an ax. Not that he thought an ax would stack up to Glory but it sure as hell worked on the zombies.
He shrugged. "Kid seems alright," Gunn said. "He's a good leader. Reminds me of someone else I know." He smirked in Angel's direction. It was hard to believe that once upon a time Gunn didn't trust Angel. Even now though as they had grown closer over the years, Angel knew that he could trust Gunn to do what was necessary if he lost his soul. That had apparently happened in the recent past but Gunn hadn't been around to see it. No hesitation. Angel was his friend but if he went darkside, Gunn would be the first one to step up and put a stake in him.
"So look, I been meaning to bring this up to you," he started. He was going to ask Connor but just because the two had a history didn't mean Gunn remembered any of it. He was thinking of asking Willow to help him maybe get some of those memories back but if it was true, if he and Fred had played Mom and Dad to Connor while Angel was under the sea? He didn't want to remember. Memories of Fred were a painful reminder of how low he could sink. Of how he tried to have everything and instead lost the most important person in his life.
"I know there's shit going on that nobody's tellin' me about. Faith disappearing for a month to find a mysterious weapon? Everyone being real secretive about the key? Man, you know I can help and the more I know, the more I can help. You just gotta trust me."
